"Money is worth what we believe it to be worth." Reminds me a society studied in a Sociology class who measured their wealth in rocks. What one values another may not. ![]() When my freezer & pantry are full, my car is running right & has good tires & my bills are all paid I feel wealthy. My only real desire beyond that is land. You can grow food on it. There's a reason it's called "real estate". Well they havn't lost value as homes & land. They have lost value as an investment to make cash with. To me the land has much more value than the cash it could be sold for. I am not educated enough to explain this in finacial terms, I hope my meaning is plain enough. |

Know some folks that couldn't sell their homes for what they paid for it 2 years ago.
![]() At one time in Vegas if you saw a home you slightly liked in the morning...you had better buy it because it would be gone by the afternoon. Not now. Lots of people got burned with "spec houses". |

Let's be realistic does one really need to pay $100 for a pair of jeans? Or $100+ for tennis shoes? Sorry about the value about of your house. |

Last pair of jean I bought were on clearance sale for 3.00. Last sneakers were 1.50 at a second hand store, but they were new. I want land & I won't get it wasting money on little things. |

There are people here losing their homes loading up big screen TVs, nice furniture and so forth..I have always tried to live within my means.

Well here in the Southwest we have the problem with housing prices falling...yet folks are still moving in. Which may sound okay except for one thing...we don't have the water resources. Folks move out here not realizing the need to check how they will be getting water. Sounds simple...but folks from other parts of the country simply take it for granted that all utilities (gas, electric, and water) will be there.

They'd probablly call me trailer trash. I think over spending & then not paying your debts is really trashy. I scrimped & saved & built good credit to get my mobile home, which is in a park & I am now working on keeping that credit & saving the down payment for land. |

China has water problems too. Water will be the next oil. |

Several years ago a Sociologist re-examined the hierarchy of needs. Food, clothing, and shelter didn't make the top 10. Microwaves, cordless phones, and other electronic devices did though.

I still think the money has value. I think the past couple of decades pushing up prices each year, trying to find out how far they could go has resulted in things not being worth the prices the companies are charging. There are a lot of things I want, and some things I actually need, that I won't get because I just don't think even the needed items are worth the price tag. That's exactly right! People should spend, in moderation, if they have cash to spend. Credit is the downfall of this country, because we let it get out of control. Credit has been around for ages, so it can be controlled, and some are able to. People who aren't should be making a plan take back responsibility of their lives. We just don't want to let go of the bling! ![]() ![]() |
