Topic: Teen grocery bagger turns in $10,000 he found at the store | |

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. -- A 17-year-old grocery bagger was ready to wash his hands in the bathroom at the Federal Way supermarket where he works when he saw a brown canvas money bag on the floor. Moisei Baraniuc was curious. He opened it and saw envelopes filled with money – “a pretty thick stack.”
Thick enough to add up to $10,000. Stuffed with 50- and hundred-dollar bills, the bag contained the life savings of a Vancouver, Wash., man who accidentally left it in the men’s bathroom at Top Food & Drug on Nov. 13. Baraniuc, a senior at Todd Beamer High School in Federal Way, didn’t know the whole story at the time. He just put the bag on the counter and washed his hands while he thought. “The first thing that went through my mind was keeping it,” he said. And then the Ukrainian immigrant remembered what his father, Vitalie Baraniuc, always says at dinner at the family’s home in Pacific. “My dad is always telling us in this life you’ve got to work for yourself,” said Baraniuc, who goes by the nickname Moses. “If you take what doesn’t belong to you, it will catch up to you.” |

here is another interesting one a number of years ago they were building a new safeway store and a few days before that, a bum was going through the dumster that was on the side of the store and he found $3,000 torn up in a bag and took it over to the bank and they replace it and gave it back to him. |

i've done the same thing. there's more to life than money,....loyalty and friends for life, make ten grand absolutely pale in comparison....and we do have to live accutely with our feelings when we finnish here....when i got out of my body, it was too easy to see. those who do this deed realize this sooner or later. it can keep us through karma, from getting the things that we want in the long run, if we make the greedy decision.

A couple years back on Sanibel Causeway here in Florida some one found a safe and bags of money. Over 1 million dollars laying along side the road and turned it in. They say it was drug money dropped for some reason. I think I would have been in the Caribbean sippin some very strong drinks with those little umbrellas in them..

I'm sorry, but what kind of idiot keeps his life savings in a paper bag and carries it around with him? Especially to sit it down and FORGET?! I probably would have had to teach him a lesson and spend it for him.
