Yes Ruth it is! I didn't learn the first time, so tried again, then 3rd time I just lived with him, but that didn't work either. Until I stopped my own circle of choosing men who would carry on with the abuse, no relationship was ever going to work. At least now I know better and I'd chose being on my own over and over and over if that's what it takes to stay out of those situations. I'm sorry you...or anyone else has to ever know what it feels like. I've tried so hard to understand people's behaviors, even my own, the best thing I can do for myself is to learn who I AM and educate myself. Well, you're smarter than me. I married the third one. Every hear the expression "three strikes and you're out"? No more marriage for me. Darn.
