If somebody wants to celebrate their own holidays in their own ways, that's fine, I can accept and respect that. By the same token, I'd like the same respect in return. That's all I said. Calling anyone out by name? Because I mentioned that Christmas was an adopted Pagan holiday? That is based in historical fact sir. There is no need to take offense. I know the truth, and that's all that matters. and really I don't care how someone worships, it only matters that they do. Pray to the Virgin Mary... that's the way that the Catholic church encorporated my Goddess into their religion in order to "get" members. Use anointing oils that was ours too...incence...oops ours too. I don't sweat it... The Goddess believes in you even if you don't believe in her. The problem I think arises when they are out in front of civic organizations because the implication there is that Christianity is being favored. Why cant Jews not have a Star of David? Why cant we have a Kwanzaa fruit basket display? Then before you know it there will be so much crap out front of City Hall, no one will be able to make their way into the building.
Thats the issue. I dunno....most holidays are separate from each other, regardless of religion. But even if some different religions DID have holidays that overlapped each other, I really (personally) wouldn't have any issues with overlapping themes (Star Of David as well as a Christmas tree, for example) on display, whether in front of a civic organization or otherwise. But that's just me, and what the hell do I know? The only things I might have a problem with are those which would be (for example) purely Satanic in nature, and so forth. You dont have the right to make that call. If your nativity scene (assuming you are Christian) is out front of the Court House as an example, then you can not dictate which religiosity will have a display and representation beyond that point. How would a Buddhist person who has to attend trial in that same court house feel being escorted in with cuffs and leg irons on when he sees that nativity scene gracing the front lawn of this civic building that is SUPPOSED to be blind of religion, race and creed? Hmm? You tell me. |

That about sums her up. I was actually on my way to immigrate to Canada (Toronto, Ontario) to be exact. I was making plans if Obama didnt get in. No way was I doing another 4 years of that crap and certainly not 8. Canada is wonderful and it is significantly lacking in that " undereducated right wing crowd."
