hehe! Yeah, being as I believe it all to be the words of a wise, but ordinary man. Yes, it would be irrelevant to me and my life.

Death is true, writing is just writing...some is factual accounts others are science fiction. I'm open to the words, but do not put faith into them.

Just because someone does not believe a certain word written by a certain faith does not mean that they have no morals! There are many interpretations of right and wrong. People have the right to choose for themselves what they deem is appropriate and fitting for their lives.flowerforyou

Yes well it's this sort of thinking why kids are so messed up. They have no conscience because according to their parents there are no moral absolutes.

So I guess parents then should think twice before taking on this POV...yu think?

Absolutely.

In the biblical story Jesus himself denounced the pathetic immoralities of the God of Abraham.

It's crytal clear that he was not the son of that mythological godhead.

The people who use Jesus as an excuse for bigotry and hatred are by far the most immoral people of all.

Jesus didn't support the Old Testament nor did he support the God of Abraham. Yet so many people today abuse his name by using him to support those ancient bigoted immoralities.

It has become the most oxymoronic religion ever created by mankind.

It's idol worship of an ancient male-chauvinistic and bigoted mythology.

It's driven mainly by ego. Those who claim to worship it have convinced themselves that they are in some way more righteous than those who can see that it's a total lie.

But it is a lie. It can't possibly be true because it's spits in the face of its very own premises.

An all-loving, all-compassionate, all-wise, all-powerful God is not going going to paint himself into a corner where he has to have his 'only begotten Son' nailed to a pole to save the pathetic butts of a bunch of worthless sinners.

Moreover, According to the gospels Jesus didn't even agree with the immoral crap that was in the Old Testament anyway.

Jesus would have been rebelling against his own dad! He denounced the stoning of sinners to death (which his dad supposedly commanded people to do as their duty!). He also denounce the seeking of revenge (an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth) in favor of forgiveness (turn the other cheek).

Clearly if Jesus was the Son of the God of Abraham he did not agree with this father's ways.

The biblical myth creates bigots in the name of God. And the real irony is that they spread that bigotry in the name of Jesus who actually taught not to do that.

It's an oxymoronic religion that is truly detrimental to humanity.

That's my thoughts.

I've also come to realize that most pagans I've met, whether they be witches or Buddhists, or whatever, are far more righteous people than those who use the Bible to support their bigoted predjudices.

Most everyone knows were I stand on this crap. laugh

I feel that the Mediterranean mythology that evolved to become Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, as truly been a cancer of the spirit of humanity. It does nothing but cause angst. It pits man agains man, and nation against nation. Even between the believers of these godforsaken religions.

Even the Catholics and Protestants hate each other. And the Protestants have fallen into so many demoninations that it truly isn't even fair to lump them as a single religion anymore.

This entire mythology is a mythology that causes division in the name of God. It's repulsive to it's very own followers. They continually keep splitting apart in to more and more divided sects.

They'd be better off just tossing the whole thing out and just starting over with genuine brotherly love instead of the brotherly hate that they have come to so vehemently support. ohwell

The OP just asked what I believe to be true, wasn't expressing any more or less. Nothing about anyones beliefs or morals except myself, didn't knock anyone nor try to convince anyone to change theirs.drinker

There are moral absolutes. They are based on what every human being knows in their heart from the very way God Himself made us. I have a large list of my own moral absolutes that I teach my children. It all, however, boils down to my favorite Bible (gasp!) verse:

1 Corinthians 13:

1 If I speak in the tongues[a] of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. 12 Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

THAT is what I believe.
