Here's another one: The best (IMO) movie version of "A Christmas Carol", the British version starring Alastair Sim, came out in 1951! You've got very good taste............ It's British!

Christmas to me has a very different meaning to me in the last say 10 years. I do not like it anymore, soley because of the way my x treated me during the holidays. It is the spirit of giving, right? Wrong! With her it is the receiving that is important. If I got her something that was from my heart, she would say something like "That wasn't on my list!! I don't want it!!" You know what I say about X-mas now? BAH! HUMBUG! Yeah, that's right. Let someone else dictate how you feel about something and live in the past. |

"Elvis' Christmas Album" turned 51 years old this year? The movie "White Christmas" celebrates birthday #54. The movie "It's A Wonderful Life" turns 62. The original movie of "Miracle On 34th Street" turns 61. The story of "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" turns 51, and the animated TV special turns 42. "A Charlie Brown Christmas" reaches birthday number 43. Any ideas as to why these classics are still so popular today? 
I didn't realize they were still popular. I haven't watched a singe one of those in at least ten years. I have never seen A Miricle on 34th St. or listened to the Elvis Christmas Album. |

I do agree with Lilith in the sense that you need to stop allowing this woman's selfish actions to dictate how you interpret the spirit of the holidays henceforth. You can blame absolutely no one else for that other than yourself. Not even her. My suggestion for what its worth would be for you to spend the upcoming holidays with some new people if at all possible. Just try to wipe the slate clean and start over. |

Woody~ I'm not saying anything. I am simply making an observation, and one that is over months of posting. If you choose to let it go, then do it. Unless you are apathetic, you can't. It is your choice. And right now, I'm saying I've observed you have very very very strong feelings for your ex.

You have to remember also that if we were to sit your ex down and ask her to tell us about you and the past relationship, how much do you want to bet that she would turn the story completely around and you would come out looking like the horrible, selfish oager?
It is not necessarily that people are lying either. We tend to interpret the situation in our favor. |

I'm wondering how much of it is really just a sort of marketo-inertia, an inherent part of the ubiquitous WinterMegaSpend-A-Thon it's all turned into.... There's so little of the original pagan solstice-themed accoutrements left anymore -- nobody hardly even goes to PaganMart these days.... |
