Topic: I'm Concerned

I'm sorry this is long...But I have to get this out, and hopefully it falls on the right hearts.
I saw this headline, just when logging into my yahoo account: Obama has more threats than other presidents-elect
Now why is that? Now truth be told, I am black, but I am not ignorant and definitely not unaware. And this comment is not to start some rant of racism, because I think if adults can remember to think like children, with all their innocence before the world marks us with its disposition, then we should be able to accept or confront a situation without violence, right? But WHY is that? Let's face it, black, Latino, Aisan, whoever, there were several unhappy with Bush's term...ahem, DOUBLE term, but you don't see us going on raves trying to KILL the man. We put up with things, deal with them, realize what will be will be and keep it moving...but when you start deciding that how YOU feel must be felt by everyone in an entire nation, ie killing not only our President but a father, a husband, an accomplished citizen, a MAN for goodness sakes! then I think there needs to be some re-adjustment. I'm very concerned. Very disturbed. There's no need for it. None. You don't like him, move. Go to another country. Or just let it go. Face it, McCain didn't win. It's over. The election was over. But NO one has the supremacy to take another's life because they're not happy. Darnit I'm upset! It's time to GROW up.

Not my candidate, I didn't vote for him.
But I will respect the office he holds, and the choice which my fellow Americans have made.

I understand what you mean. I was thinking Obama was going to face those issues anyway. Sad, but true. I'd hate for a good man to live a life like John F. Kennedy...another man good for this country and left his young wife and children after being assassinated. A shame.

Exactly. I'm not saying you have to LIKE him. But he has just as much right to respect as President as the candidates he was up against. That's all I'm saying. But threats to kill him. That's too far. It's too much. A man (or woman) is a man (or woman) and deserves the dignity as such. Don't like something, write a letter. Seal it. And mail it to yourself. That way at least you can say your opinion was heard. I'm just sick of foolish violence. How does that make our country look? C'mon.

I am with you! I am so sick of it being hashed over. Let's face it, this country needs a change from the same old same and that's what Mccain would've given us. No matter who won, the winner is in for a long ride trying to clean this mess up. We should support our current President Elect.............period.

Thanks Neelie, and I'm not bashing McCain. He's obviously a strong character, or else he wouldn't have made it so far. It isn't about who's the better candidate anymore, 'cause that race is so yesterday. It's about being an American - respect, dignity, and civility for EVERYONE.

Anybody who kills or attempts to kill someone because of the color of their skin are no better than those ahole terrorists.

I read that on the Yahoo page.

Ignorance is raising it's ugly head.

It is a very sad thing.

I have read reports about this recently as well...and also some reports of a huge spike in the number of threats against Obama after some Palin rhetoric at her rallies.

Quite frankly the whole notion that race is still an issue in 2008 makes me sick...

As though the pretty colour of one's skin could truly assign them a rank on a totem pole ...

'white as a chicken' gurl goes here for example ----->

c'mon!!!!

I have great hope for the rebuilding of your fine nation and believe you have elected a man who, if given the means and support, may indeed inspire you to greatness again ... or at least start you out of the hole you now find yourselves in amid the international sandbox.

Black, brown, white, purple with green dots or a lovely tie-dye effect of chartruese, naples yellow and alizarin crimson....I don't care...

...and am baffled why it is such an issue ... yet it is ...

He is a man, a father, a husband, a son and the next leader of the USA. Death threats because of the colour of his skin? Outrageous!

Just try buying a can of paint ... pouring it into 8 pots and giving them to a child as a set ... how boring!

...but I digress...

oops

I am concerned for this man's safety, as well. There will always be bigots, facists, prejucided, and/or self-righteous neanderthals. There is no room in this world for such miscreants and we can only pray that Obama and his family will be safe. And, no, I did not vote for him. But, he will be our leader, and he and his family have every right to safety and sanity.

I didn't vote. Long story short.. Long line at the Secretary of state on the last day haha. Sooner or later one of two things will happen.. A nuclear hallocaust *spelling sorry* or.. We all hold hands across the globe and sing it's a small world? Sadly the fallout seems more likely, all I really can say on it is I hope the ones left standing do a better job than the ones before.
