Im one of those fools who think economy should be allowed to do what its gonna do. Its a self healer proven over and over. I dont dread recessions because it controls costs and inflation. We are seeing that already. I fear messing with it will cause super-inflation..High cost!!! JMO

Whatever happened to let the punishment fit the crime? That's what I want to know. Ya eff up, ya pay the consequences. That's how it works, people. Or... that's how it's supposed to work anyway.

How about this nation was built on businesses that eventually fail. Look at all the companys that are no longer around but used to be big.

Now they are talking about bailing out the auto industry too ya but with some of the funds approved for the financial industry. stupid move. they'll go right thru it and want more. and the financial industry is the baseline of all the rest. They are the ones who give more $$ out .. so they need to be healthy foremost. |

Why should we need to bail out these big corporations when all they are going to do is eventually spend the money and be right back in the same place. If you think about what got these corps. into their current situation all a bail out is going to do is put a band aid on an open wound. It is inevetable that if they failed and ran out of money that they will eventually run out again. And it's not like the government is the ones bailing them out anyways. We are the people that pay the taxes to make up for the tax breaks these corporate giants recieve. And we are the ones that pay the taxes that provide for a bail-out. Instead of spending money on something that is going to fail anyways why not put the money back into the people, communities, and states. I live in an area that has fairly high taxes due to a corporation that recieves a huge tax break. But yet this company can donate millions of dollars per year but not pay taxes so the people of the community see a difference.

Ok y'all, feel free to tell me where I am wrong here, but shouldn't some of these companies be allowed to succeed or fail on their own merits, like the rest of us have to do? the federal gov is not to finance anything that is not a direct benefit to the people how is this a direct help to the people it would have been legal to take tha 700 billion and give it to each tax payer tho and that would have stimulated the economy a lot sure the 600 made a ripple but come on 4000 would have done a lot more |

But it does make a difference short term. Hence why permanently cutting taxes would have an effect EVERY YEAR. But it only works if the money provided isn't printed. If they would have given the bailout money to the people the long term effects would HURT us, not help us. I think everyone should use this bailout to see where the loyalties in the government are, as well as our new leader. This is a pretty big black mark for him. As is voting to reinstate the patriot act. But, everyone knows, if they really wanted to help anyone they would have had a different plan. Shrink government, cut spending. It's the only way to help us right now... And BTW, we aren't talking about 700 billion anymore. The government pumped 700 billion into the market before they voted to pass the bill giving 850 billion (with pork). We are continuously printing money and giving it to wall street. I kid you not our numbers are at least 2 trillion right now. According to Dr. Paul the number is actually 5 trillion. |

I know I will probably be shot for this but. Business fails, governments fail. A group of great minds came together over two hundred yrs ago and wrote it. Maybe a group of great minds should come together now and rewrite it. Before for you call me traitor you should look at the constitution. Edit: I had to it came out wrong!!! Im not saying the consitution is flawed!!!!

Before for you call me traitor you should look at the constitution. I agree. But rewriting it scares me. I think the document is about as flawless as it can be. What we need to is get rid of some of these amendments that were added to the document later on. Supposedly our constitution says that we need sound, backed money. What's funny is originally the penalty for counterfeit money was the death penalty. Now we have a bank to print this money... Funny how things turn around huh? But you are absolutely right. In our Declaration of Independence it states "if the government becomes destructive to these ends the people have the right to alter or abolish it". The "ends" it speaks of is the life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. |
