It seems like we should have some other threads in the "Other Religions" forums but I can't think of anything.

Good ideas! We'll see if anyone responds. Besides us I mean.

I finally got a chant to go with my Song of the Goddess. I need practice it, but I plan on chanting this prayer every day and at the start of all my rituals. So by next year at this time maybe I'll be able to actually chant it will.
SONG OF THE GODDESS You are the Great Mother Spirit Omniscient in all of Nature You are the feminine You are the yin You are the giver of life The Mother of creation The ethereal wisdom in the wind Your grace flows in the waters Your love glistens as moonlight You light up the night and show me the cosmic wonders Your lunar globe guides my path Its waxing and waning directs my deeds You are the healer of wounds and the restorer of the soul Your infinite patience is only eclipsed by your eternal flowing love I cherish the gift of life that you have bequeathed to me I extol your sacred presence now and forevermore Namaste ~~~ There is an mp3 audio on the following web page of me chanting this prayer of praise. I was originally going to do it in Gregorian style, but I didn't like the way that was sounding (too churchy). So I created a chant that uses a melodic theme more closely related to the North American Indian cultures. I'm hoping to develop some hand drumming to go with it. I have bongos and conga drums, but thus far I can't quite keep a beat and chant at the same time. I'm working on it though. Maybe by the end of next year I'll have something more fluent with hand drumming to go with it. http://www.csonline.net/designer/spirit/goddess.htm |

I did the Horned God too which I also view as the Sun God. They are one in the same for me. They are the yang.
This one is very much the same as the Goddess tribute with a few word changes. I did them similar to make them easier to memorize. When I chant these I envision speaking directly to these deities. So I chant the God song with a masculine feel, and the Goddess song with a feminine feel. Song of the God You are the Great Father Spirit Omniscient in all of Nature You are the masculine You are the yang You are the giver of power The Father of passion The ethereal strength in the wind Your power radiates as fervor from a fire Your love shines brightly as sunlight You light up the day and show me the wonders of nature Your solar globe guides my life From solstice to solstice you fill me with purpose You are the provider of food and the grower of grains Your infinite power is only eclipsed by your eternal flowing love I cherish the gift of life that you sustain for me I extol your sacred presence now and forevermore Namaste ~~~ Audio on the following web page: http://www.csonline.net/designer/spirit/god.htm |

It seems like we should have some other threads in the "Other Religions" forums but I can't think of anything. What about different types of divinations? I am kind of interested in Voodoo and Haitian spirituality and religion. That is also where the idea of a "zombie" comes from. What I suspect might be taking place is people actually are given various concoctions to drink either against their will or with consent. Some of these have the ability to actually lower pulse rate and render other vital signs to the point of undetectability. Also, in Haiti and some of these less wealthy nations, the medical equipment that they might have access to in hospitals is older, used, or perhaps even malfunctioning or people may not be trained to properly use it in all cases. Therefore, they declare a patient DOA when they in fact are not. I dont know what would cause this to happen exactly but maybe kurari? I dont know and that is why I might begin a thread about it in case someone else is more knowledgeable. There was a man who was found wandering around a cemetery and was nearly buried alive in Haiti so it does take place in that region. They had a hard time convincing him he was not dead. He was very traumatized. |

It's hoodoo (which is the magick of voodoo and other similar religions without the religion). This site has a lot of free information. Watch out for the owner....she is WEIRD. But, she knows her stuff. |

Thanks Ruth. I'll check this out today. I actually became interested because as a kid, I did in fact enjoy all the zombie horror films so that prompted me to actually find out where all of these stories originated. The Hollywood zombie is in fact based in this Haitian conceptualization of what an actual zombie is.
Its just like films such as the "The Craft" when they take the premise behind Witchcraft and distort it to sell tickets. Its sensationalized yet there are elements of truth running through it. |

Exactly. You can actually learn a lot from watching some of those movies if you ignore the sensational parts. I would actually like to learn more about Voodoo myself. |
