Topic: Veteran's Day-Then and Now | |

It was way different back in 1971 as a freshly discharged kid of 20-I didn't think anyone owed me anything(I still hold that view!) but felt bad about the treatment we Vietnam Vets had received. Kind of like someone who was invisible-yet highly prominent. I'm sure my now grown children and former wives probably feel that I am remarkable for surviving the ordeal-both there and after at home. Truth is we just did what we felt we had to for our true love-the USA! Now, I always tell the youngster who serves or has served "Thank You" and make sure THEY are appreciated. Hope you do to! Then maybe we BOTH have learned from the tragedy that was "NAM"!

i've come to the conclusion that our govt doesn't care at all about our service men. in 87-89 i was living in the woods, and there was 75 vets in the other side of that woods that didn't want to be there, for they had been homeless since the war, for the most part, and recieved nothing, no benefits of any kind, and most of them are dead now, or on their last legs.......i wonder how many of these boys will have that problem from this new war? the govt is on a good roll, for a repeat of that.

I'm sorry that the very country that these Vets sacrificed their life for is treating them this way. I for one am eternally grateful for what you all have done and I will do everything I can to always show my support and appreciation for all of you.
