No. I hung out with the druggies, actually. I dated a pot dealer as a senior and partied pretty hard all four years, both on and off campus.
I got caught smoking several times and often skipped class to earn ISS so I could study or write a paper. I had only a few detentions but skipped so many days I needed a medical excuse to graduate. I wore jeans to my graduation ceremony (I was the only one), wearing my sister's gown from the year before as I never bought one. I went to my graduation because my mom threatened to kick me out if I didn't go. I got Incompletes in several classes. I think I graduated with a B- average, in the College Prep cirriculum...... so it's a good thing I'm smart. I was a horrible teenager. |

I kinda mixed with a few different crowds, but i soon realised that the popular kids were the biggest arseholes and associated less with them.

I served time in reform school and when I got out and returned to public school I was infamous and a legend because of having been locked up. lol. I was popular for being bad! I can live with that.

I was an outcast. Played sports, but not good enough to make the teams.. Smart, but hung out with the heads.. I have a decent IQ, but ended up in the top 98% of my class, due to not caring at all.
I have since learned a good bit of a 3rd language just by listening, have written short stories and poetry (all on the web). The cool kids from TPHS class of '82 are mostly pot-bellied soccer parents that cheat on each-other, or are addicted to some sort of crutch. I feel blessed to have never been incarcerated (except for 4 hours), and to just have 2 ex wives. By the time my 10 yr reunion came up, 20+ of my classmates were in the ground, and a few were behind bars. |

I don't know that I was particularly poplular but I had a lot of kids that were friends and the teachers liked me. I worked at least forty hours besides keeping scholarship grades probably didn't hurt. Or that my art talents made up for the tests I did flunk and most of the sports banners or other club/school elections stuff. Took tons of pictures as yearbook photographer. A preachers brat and my female guardian in city/school politics more than once that I had my hands in school pranks really yanked the "parent" chain but made me part of the inner circle. Bailed a shop teacher out of a jam for taking the fall for my airbrushing a Godiva on one of the kids truck. Pretty significant beating went along with it. Nobody ever "officially" knew that my husband a popular former graduate and I eloped but compliments of spare the rod spoil the child thing that I miscarried we were protected from being expelled and lot of people hung out at our drug and booze free apartment and came to the official wedding which was huge. I help make the coaches wife bridesmaids dresses and did a lot of prom decorations and dresses. That you could cram a ton of kids in my 69 Dodge Charger RT and I would quarter mile at 125 MPH was kind of fun. OMG don't tell the grandkids. hahahahahahahahaha
P.S. My one regret was I campaigned for the right to not be expelled for smoking and I would say the biggest percentage of my classmates that did smoke have all had serious health issues. That is not dogging on smokers because I was one but just saying it really shows when you past fifty. |
