Stupidly-Long-Distance-Relationships.
After three (well, two and a half lol - one was merely a stupid knee-jerk reaction) failed SLDRs, I'm finally convinced that they DON'T work. Does anyone have any sucess stories to prove me wrong? |

They can work, but require perfection in several areas...better to be friends until you can get closer to each other.

i don't know. is 2+ years stupidly long? Time is not the issue, rather distance. Congrat's for the 2+ years relationship though I hope to one day last that long with someone myself. |

Pete, you have to look at a LDR as a challange and know that you will have to have a different kind of relationship. it is better and worse in several way.
A better way is that you have to learn to communicate more. Talk about your day to day life. You have to express yourself in words because your presence will not be felt and you will have to talk about "feelings" more. A worse way is that you can not be physical, and so you will not have that bonding. You also do not know what their quirks are when you are not there so that is something to over come if the LDR turns to one of you moving. It can be done, but you have to have patience, understanding, you have to want to care about the other person, compassion and most of all faith and trust. |

And again, I believe I have patience, understanding, compassion etc. - I'm not trying to make myself out to be Mr. Perfect (FAR from it ), but it seems these qualities are never reciprocated. |

Well LDR's are a two way street, both have to have these same qualities.

I am kinda workin on one...should I just cut and run? Stay with it. Please, prove me wrong. I'd love to hear that someone had success where I failed. I wish you all the luck in the world |
