Why do people spend countless hours arguing about God? Why do people feel the need to possess God? Someone on this earth has to be right, right? Either there is a god or their isn't. Either it is loving or vengeful. It is either male or female. It is omnipotent or gives free will. It either created everything including evil or it didn't. Someone somewhere has to have it right. Or maybe all of them are right. Since God is personal and private and provides for each person that which they need from him/her/it. |

the fact is that, at present, we cannot prove or disprove the existence of God.
leave science to the scientists and religion to the theologeans |
|
|
|
it is an attempt for us to better understand ourselves
God cannot be possessed. but we can possess a better understanding of god. if you believe in one God then it doesn't matter how different individuals or religions view the one God - since there is only 1 all the views must just be different perspectives of the same "phenomenon" which is God. |

Why do people spend countless hours arguing about God? Why do people feel the need to possess God? Because in truth, the major religions of the world are actually being used as political machines to support bigotry and political agendas. Especially the proselytizing religions that are threatening to convert the whole world to their way of thinking. They ask people why anyone should consider them a threat? Well, if they are threatening to proselytize the whole world to their way of thinking then they are making a threat. Moreover, let's face it, the religions that are most venemous have all arisen from the same geographic region, and from the same underlying mythology. Yet they are the ones that are disrupting world peace. Just look at the problems in the Middle East they are all religion related. So it's really politics like it or not. It doesn't really have much to do with God at all actually. |

Yes I know many people who think they own God. If you reject their doctrine or their religion they assume that you are rejecting God. Its very strange. |

Yes I know many people who think they own God. If you reject their doctrine or their religion they assume that you are rejecting God. Its very strange. It's truly sad too. Religions are just a way to view God. If people could understand that then they could change religions without looking at it like as though they are 'changing Gods'. Religion is nothing more than a tool that man uses to visualize what the creator of this universe might be like. It is seriously sad that some religions had to go and write dogma that claims to be the word of God. Usually they are such terribly negative religions that they just ram shame, disgrace, and a feeling of unworthiness down the throats of innocent people. They even make people feel guilty for thinking about turning to another religion. What a shame. If there's anything I believe it's that the true creator of this universe would never be so negative. |

Why do people spend countless hours arguing about God? Why do people feel the need to possess God? My lady, most argueing is due to one god owned by 3 seperate monotheistic religious agenda's, each thinking there god/prophets have given each the "absolute" truth as to who and what he is and wants from those involved. Take away these 3 in particular and there would be little argueing about the others that exist, the others donot preach war or killing. |

It's all Abraham's fault. He should have waited like he was told

~ The Spirit of Jess Lee ~
Jess Lee's spirit's in the sea her neck is in the woods She has no need for pious priests who hide their faces 'neath their hoods She rides the ocean's mighty waves and visits spirits in their caves She's in harmony with nature and with those beyond the graves The mystery's inspired no knowledge is required Jessie Lee will "Simple Be" to become what is desired No need for pious pretense No need for Holy Scripts The Earth and Moon and Sun are One as exposed by an eclipse Just be in tune with nature and know that nature's God But there's never a need to call her that for that title's kind of odd Just worship her with love and not pious indignation To simply be in harmony is the greatest admiration Love all else just like yourself don't hide your soul in shame Let your light shine brightly for it's the Holy Spirit's Flame (((Jess Lee))) |

In the absence of evidence why believe at all? Seems like a waste of time.
because those who believe in God think everyone should and those who don't think no one should be allowed to I don't think so. Ex.One of my friends spends hours and hours playing the same old video game . . never really gets much entertainment out of it anymore, but he still plays it . . . he yells at it more then anything anymore . . it doesn't seem fun for him . . . . I think he is wasting his time. But you know what, I wouldn't take that away from him for anything . . . . its his decision. As long as what ever you believe is equally benign to my well being (as in your "god" isnt telling you to come kill or hurt me) then I could care less. Jeremy. |

In the absence of evidence why believe at all? Seems like a waste of time. Some people, including myself, believe that we have a spiritual nature. And since we view this as part of our natural essence we feel a need to develop it just like we would grow in any other aspect of our being. In fact, I think it is a desire for this spiritual connection that initially draws people to religions. They have a desire to make 'contact' with the spirit. The creator of their very being. Of course, I don't see that as being the true motivation for the Mediterranean-based religions. Those religions truly are more about appeasing God than anything else, although people claim otherwise because once they believe they have appeased him they start to believe that they're on the 'inside track' of spirituality. Unfortunately their behavior doesn't display the kind of righteous behavior one would expect from a truly divine person. On the contrary they tend to act more like the obedient servants of manmade dogma. That hardly appears to be a spiritual rapport with a divine loving entity. I have always felt a direct connection with the spiritual forces of nature. I can sense a dishonest person almost before they even open their mouth to speak. And I'm rarely wrong in that intuitive perception. I've also felt the spiritual energy in objects all of my life. Although in some sense I never really thought of it as being 'spiritual'. I just thought of it more pragmatically as being in harmony with nature. None the less, I confess that I would like to make a deeper psychic connection with the Holy Spirit. (not the one described in the Bible, they raped the concept from decent religions to support their egotistical Godhead). I'm certain that the biblical myth can never be meaningful to me as a spiritual conduit to God. I've tried the purely pantheistic views which basically focus on the spiritual connections that I have always known naturally. However, there's always a desire to make a deeper connection to an actaul spiritual mind. Actually I think I already have that connection too, and have had it all my life naturally. None the less I'd like to refine it and focus on developing it deeper. I don't feel a need to this. Like as if it's important that I do it. Not at all. I don't feel like this is something that is necessary. I just feel like it is something that I would like to experience on a deeper level. I believe that many people actually do make this connection in life. Although, I don't believe that it is an ON/OFF type of thing. I think there are many different levels of spiritual connection and they aren't even in steps, it's just a continuum like an analog volume control. It's not that I expect to have an intellectual conversation with a deity. It's more about being open to creative energies. Although some of those energies can indeed be intellectual. For example, I just watched a video where Olivia Netwon John was spiritually inspired to write 7 songs in 5 days. That's a spiritual connection. This kind of thing has also been described by writers, movie producers, etc., the list goes on and on. I love to create. So I'm attracted to spiritual rituals that will help to attune me to the spiritual world of creativity. I wouldn't mind having better health too. In other words, yes, I want to ask the Gods for help. Christianity has been a total failure for me. It has never provided any spiritual help for me. And spiritual help I got along the way was due to my natural connections to the spirit not because of that godforsaken religion. It just does absolutely nothing to enhance a connection to the spirit, it's all about guily, shame, and being unworthy. In fact, even now when I ask the Gods for energy and healing I feel a certain amount of unworthiness leftover due to the shame and disgrace placed on me by my previous upbringing. Fortunately I'm already getting spiritual feedback and the main thrust of that feedback is a feeling of how silly I am for feeling unworthy in the first place. So I think there is something to spirituality, but the way it is viewed can be productive or deterimental depending on how you choose to view it. I think it's extremely wrong to view spirituality in a negative light because that just incites a negative spiritual energy. And therefore religions that lay guilt complexes on people and tell them that they have failed the Gods and are unworthy of their grace are truly evil religions. They just fill the spirit with negative thoughts and vibrations. Puke. Religion should absolute postively be a positive experience, not a negative one! |
