Ditch the prepaid card. They are ripping people off. Go to the bank and get a legitimate Visa card.

They charge the consumer 5 bucks a month, and the retailer 3-5% of the transaction JUST TO HOLD YOUR MONEY. It shows up on a credit reprt as a "slow pay" and recks your credit. |

First of all, not that I know of anyones credit status, but if they are using one of these card I am pretty sure they don't care anymore what shows up on their credit report.
These cards do have their place in the world of online shopping and bill payments for someone with terrible credit already. Lets not be too hard on people. |

Even the concept of a prepaid card is flawed.
You deposit your money. They acrue the interest on the money. Then they charge you for the use of your money. You might as well just keep CASH in a COOKIE JAR!!! |

I know of people who use them to shop online, they top them up with the right amount for their purchase, and should the card get lost, they are not losing a fortune unlike a debit card linked to your bank account |

Works the same as My Bank Debit Card.... It is a MasterCard.... if I go over the amount I have in the bank, they pay it, then charge me $35.00 for each transaction that goes over... SO, in theory, I can have $0.99 in the bank, buy something that cost's $1.00 and will have to pay them $35.01 ...
There is no fee for me using the card, nor is there a maintenance fee.... |

I had one several months ago and a year before that too and it has never been on my credit report It does show up on your credit, and if you go to buy a house or a car or a major purchase it counts against you. It lowers your total credit score also. |
