I have been doing a bit of research lately. Making sure that I sit through at least a couple of hours if not all day of Fox News.
I know why it is called Faux News now for sure. I have never watched so much of it at one time and I think I may be permanently damaged. Is there a rehab for this? I have now exposed myself to a barrage of the right wing hate machine. Do you realize that they use about 3/4 of their time repeating all the smears for Democrats? Do you realize that they make sure that any Democrat or person who differs from their views, never gets the last word? Do you realize that Colmes is a doormat or a little fish in the tank with sharks and it shows? Do you realize that their ticker repeats the same smears on Obama ALL DAY LONG? I could go on and on but I think you get the picture. I flipped to CNN on occasion to make sure that this was not the national news at the time. CNN was reporting ALL the news, outside the presidential campaign and inside it. Not Fox. They make a quick blurb and get right back to the Obama and Democrat bashing for another hour. Dishonesty I noticed, or at least some of it, I know I am not going to remember it all is as follows: They are making people think that the REGISTRATION FRAUD happening means voter fraud and that all these illegimate forms are somehow going to make a landslide on voter day. They had someone on who explained that registration papers have to be signed off on by the election board who checks them before they sign off on them so these forms mean ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO THE COUNTED VOTES. Do you think they SAY that at any time since then? NOPE!! They would not let the guy talk who was explaining that Joe the Plumber is actually not a plumber, at least not legally, that he makes way under 100,000 dollars per year, that he is a very conservative right winger who will never be damaged by Obama's Tax ideals. Oh and when he tried to tell them that the reason Joe the Plumber is having problems now is not that the "liberal left" is trying to tear him down but that McCain portrayed him as the "average American" ( which he is not) and now everyone can check this all out. McCain made Joe's life hell, not Obama. They can't get people to disagree with Obama's tax thing so now, NOW he is a socialist or leaning socialist, trying to make us like Europe. Taking away our rights to be capitalistic Americans by saying "Spread the Wealth". Well the Progressive Tax we have already does exactly that. And Bush and his buddies just gave a whole lotta welfare to the big boys, there is no room there to talk one little bit. I can go on and on but I will stop here. I think I may need some therapy after this little experiment. But I am going to keep checking in on this network because it is a reality check for me that this country has a long way to go before it can even slightly be called an Adult. Peace ![]() Oh and as an after thought: Do you realize that they allow their anchors to have full specials to smear Obama? Both Hannity and Van have specials coming up. No other network does that to smear McCain. |

MSNBC...
Watch a few hours... McCain's name is said with a sneering voice... Obama's with a lilt. They are actually leaned farther left than fox is leaned right. Kinda hard to do. they not only report smears... they report internet gossip as if it is true. |

I don't understand how anyone can take Fox news seriously. Are you actually watching fox news... Or fox analysis and opininos shows... big diference between those shows (on every network) and NEWS. |

That sir is actually why I switch back and forth to fox. They will and have held each side accountable for answering the questions. When the spin gets so strong that the interviewee starts yell in frustration... they have technical difficulities. Why do you think Obama won't let them interview him. Cause they will hold him too the same standards they held barney frank to. And Obama in no way wants to be required to answer in more detail then party spin. It would show his lies. |

Propaganda is a concerted set of messages aimed at influencing the opinions or behaviors of large numbers of people. As opposed to impartially providing information, propaganda in its most basic sense presents information in order to influence its audience. Propaganda often presents facts selectively (thus lying by omission) to encourage a particular synthesis, or gives loaded messages in order to produce an emotional rather than rational response to the information presented. The desired result is a change of the cognitive narrative of the subject in the target audience to further a political agenda.
TECHNIQUES: * Ad hominem A Latin phrase which has come to mean attacking your opponent, as opposed to attacking their arguments. * Ad nauseam This argument approach uses tireless repetition of an idea. * Appeal to authority * Appeal to fear * Appeal to prejudice * Demonizing the enemy * Disinformation * Flag-waving * Glittering generalities * Half-truth * Intentional vagueness Nobody does this better than FAUX News.... |

And the modern translation of this... SPIN... or as it is known right know... TALKING POINTS. Lies to influence the educated and partially educated. |

Outfoxed examines how media empires, led by Rupert Murdoch's Fox News, have been running a "race to the bottom" in television news. This film provides an in-depth look at Fox News and the dangers of ever-enlarging corporations taking control of the public's right to know. http://www.surfthechannel.com/info/documentaries/Outfoxed__Rupert_Murdochs_War_on_Journalism/36316/Outfoxed+%3A+Rupert+Murdoch%27s+War+on+Journalism.html?aid=20599

The thing ya'll are missing is that the "slant" is in the anchors, not the guests. The "slant" at Fox is Republican, Conservative and hate filled. I have tortured myself listening to it for way too long now so I know what I see. If you agree with the anchors for the most part chances are you are a right wing conservative with hate tendencies. I can't say that for sure so speculation here. I am not a right wing conservative but I am also not a left wing liberal either and I can see it. Fair and balanced my ass. Only fair and balanced if you are looking for an excuse to continue to continue the age old prejudices of this country or become a radical right winger. ![]() ![]() |
