Topic: Is Barack the Bobby we missed? | |

I don't like either!!!!!! But McCain spent over 5 year's as a POW so he know's about getting screwed by our government!!!!!! And he knew sure knew how to screw over his first wife. ![]() From what I've read, she was taking care of the children. Question i have is who are we to judge? His wife had a choice and she chose to overlook his infidelity....her choice. Do some research on PTSD and issues most pow's have after coming and reacclimating to regular society. His actions are far from uncommon. Irregardless it has no bearing on whether he is better suited to running this country. I know about PTSD. I have worked in a VA Hospital Psych. Ward. ![]() |

For those of you who dont know, here a copy of a speech RFK gave to the students at the University of Kansas in 1968, that really reflects who he was! "If we believe that we, as Americans, are bound together by a common concern for each other, then an urgent national priority is upon us. We must begin to end the disgrace of this other America. And this is one of the great tasks of leadership for us, as individuals and citizens this year. But even if we act to erase material poverty, there is another greater task, it is to confront the poverty of satisfaction - purpose and dignity - that afflicts us all. Too much and for too long, we seemed to have surrendered personal excellence and community values in the mere accumulation of material things. Our Gross National Product, now, is over $800 billion dollars a year, but that Gross National Product - if we judge the United States of America by that - that Gross National Product counts air pollution and cigarette advertising, and ambulances to clear our highways of carnage. It counts special locks for our doors and the jails for the people who break them. It counts the destruction of the redwood and the loss of our natural wonder in chaotic sprawl. It counts napalm and counts nuclear warheads and armored cars for the police to fight the riots in our cities. It counts Whitman's rifle and Speck's knife, and the television programs which glorify violence in order to sell toys to our children. Yet the gross national product does not allow for the health of our children, the quality of their education or the joy of their play. It does not include the beauty of our poetry or the strength of our marriages, the intelligence of our public debate or the integrity of our public officials. It measures neither our wit nor our courage, neither our wisdom nor our learning, neither our compassion nor our devotion to our country, it measures everything in short, except that which makes life worthwhile. And it can tell us everything about America except why we are proud that we are Americans". the only problem is that they'll say anything to get elected but once that's over, it's all over.. Not to mention, what most seem to forget is the fact that the president is only a figure head.. NO president can make any rules or laws without a vote... |

There's always the veto pen. It every single thing the President purposes.. SO whilst we blame Bush for everything, we still have others that could have vetoed him... And believe me I am NOT a Bush fan! |

Bobby was just Bobby, his brothers murder really changed him for the better, he made America think, he made us look in the mirror and see what is really there, Take a look at this, i love this quote "At the University of Natal in Durban, I was told the church to which most of the white population belongs teaches apartheid as a moral necessity. A questioner declared that few churches allow black Africans to pray with the white because the Bible says that is the way it should be, because God created Negroes to serve. "But suppose God is black", I replied. "What if we go to Heaven and we, all our lives, have treated the Negro as an inferior, and God is there, and we look up and He is not white? What then is our response?" There was no answer. Only silence." |

He said that Obama's reminded him of that speech and was almost as good. |

The thing we're forgetting is that there wasn't anything to back up the speech... People can say whatever, it's like relationships.. You can say anything, but what do you really do??? Bobby didn't get a chance to prove anything.. A martyr is always put on a pedestal...

I think the more we get to know Barack, we all will see that he really is. I dont think we have seen all of Barack, no where near, but i think once we do, this place will be a much better world. |

But we've seen all we can of McCain???? I think that we can't hold on to things said.. We have to go by the past with the things said... It really gets to me that people talk about Palin having no experience, when you look at it what does Obama have? She runs a state, he's in the senate.. do I need to say "hello???!!!!"... the bottom line it, it doesn't matter what either says it matters if they can get their way to go through and most can't.... so I keep asking, what does it all really mean? |

I think the upcoming election between John McCain and Barack Obama is a good analogy of the rut the moral of this country is in.
Sen. John McCain is 72 years old, with a proven but yet very debatible record. He served his Country in the air in Vietnam though the military Sen. Barack Obama is a 47 year old unproven, non-career politician who based his campaign on change. He served this country as a community organizer and cival rights attorney through his inner city community in Chicago. Are we willing to give Barack a chance? or are we going to stay with what has failed us in the past? "Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly."-Bobby I personally dont glorify McCains military service, i dont think, in my opinion, he served his country, he served this government and its own interests in the conflict with Ho chi minh that did nothing but destroy the lives of countless people and did nothing to better the lives of any Human Beings anywhere and destroyed the moral of our country here at home The country is not equal to this Governement; there two different entites. So on that note; I personally think through his work in his own communtity and his students at the University of Chicago law school, just to name a few instances, Barack has served his country better than John McCain ever could!! Hes changed more peoples lifes and has done his best to make this a kinder gentler world and to me, thats truly SERVING THIS COUNTRY, THE PEOPLE WHO BUILT IT, NOT THE GOVERNMENT WHO IS CAUSING HER DISTRUCTION |

IF he can make differences as the president I get where you are coming from.. I just feel that they say everything the do to get elected, then they know they can't do anything once they're in office... As well as lie to get elected then do the opposite once in office...
