I think we all do that in some form or another, because we are scared to accept that this person that we are with, could actually be real deal. It's kind of like when you are searching for that special person, in the beginning you don't really care too much. Then you meet that one certain person and then all of a sudden you get this light bulb moment when you realize "Holy crap, I think this is the real deal!" That's when we start getting scared, because the one thing that we never really thought we'd find, has just came into our life without any kind of warning at all. At least that's my view on it.

I don't think of this as setting up a failure I think of it more as agood question to ask. I think I have asked this a 100 times in the past 1.5 years, some of the answers were quite good and honest others were like they were reading off a cue card.
I also have been asked this several times. The trick is to go from knowing why you are single to finding, and making a relationship work
