I met someone off of the site in person for the first time last night.
It wasn't a date really. He was transferred to my town for 3 months. I thought it would be nice to introduce him to some people at the roadhouse I go to. These are really nice people and they treat me like family. They welcome everyone no matter what. I was shocked and stunned beyond belief when he told me that he was uncomfortable that I would hang out in such a "blue collar, working class bar." - excuse me?? Some of the most memorable quotes from the night were: "You have class, why would you want to hang around these kinds of people." "I had to dress down just to come to this place." "I prefer to hang out with people with money." "You are not like the people in here. You don't belong here." I don't understand how someone could honestly think they were better than someone else. I am floored. Mr. I have something to say: "These people" may not dress in suits, may make less than 30 buck an hour, and yes, they may not be able to even afford what you sell in your business, however- we,(yes, I am included in "these people") are just as good as you. We may not be rich, but we are happy. He couldn't understand that. He honestly thought you couldn't be happy if you weren't rich. Wow. Money does not equal happy, and obviously, it cannot buy manners either. Sheesh! What a night.. |

One only has as much class as they show within themselves. Money is a mere tool to enjoy the things you might not could afford but in no way does money make one any better then another. One day he will get that wake up call I feel for anyone that thinks just because they have money it makes them better then the next person.
Give me the working class of people and I will show you people that truly have fun and class. Then give me ones that think money is the root of class and I will show you one that will drown when they are caught out in the rain. shshs |

I had met a girl(not from here) who is highly educated, has a great job & I myself was wondering what interest she had in me Believe me it is not always the money by far it is the person themselves. |

****applauds loudly*******
You go girl! Tell it how it is! He is the one that has issues. If he can't be comfortable in a welcoming situation, then he probably doesn't feel comfortable in his own skin. He was probably afraid those there would see right through him! |

You obviously have way too much class for him. Sophistication and class are two different things. This guy may be rich and sophisticated, but, obviously, YOU HAVE CLASS! |

Guess not. |

Money, social standing, job, education, etc.
doesn't give you class... Class is not something your born with, it's something you have... |

To quote my stepmom "you really need to up your standards". I think that those people who can't hang with the common folk (like myself) are really just scared they'll get the poorman cooties..lol. I was born to a poor family and no matter if I have a lot of money or non at all..I know how to live my life and be happy. It's always nice to know that I can survive when times are tough. The ones who are "better" than others will only whine and cry "why me".
Money does not equal happiness. |

Maybe he has "shortcomings" as well as bad manners and no class!

Just be happy she likes the person within and go for it. There is not a better feeling then to know they are with you because they want to be. |
