To quote my stepmom "you really need to up your standards". I think that those people who can't hang with the common folk (like myself) are really just scared they'll get the poorman cooties..lol. I was born to a poor family and no matter if I have a lot of money or non at all..I know how to live my life and be happy. It's always nice to know that I can survive when times are tough. The ones who are "better" than others will only whine and cry "why me". Money does not equal happiness. Well said! *standing up and applauding* |

I had met a girl(not from here) who is highly educated, has a great job & I myself was wondering what interest she had in me Believe me it is not always the money by far it is the person themselves. I'm beginning to believe that, she's crazy about me Well hell why doubt the reasons you already know it is not the money so don't let that get in the way on your side. Just be happy she likes the person within and go for it. There is not a better feeling then to know they are with you because they want to be. I agree, I just find it odd |

The Bible says the love of money is the root of all evil. Also it is easier for a camal to go through the eye of a needle, than for the rich man to enter the kingdom of God.

I met someone off of the site in person for the first time last night. It wasn't a date really. He was transferred to my town for 3 months. I thought it would be nice to introduce him to some people at the roadhouse I go to. These are really nice people and they treat me like family. They welcome everyone no matter what. I was shocked and stunned beyond belief when he told me that he was uncomfortable that I would hang out in such a "blue collar, working class bar." - excuse me?? Some of the most memorable quotes from the night were: "You have class, why would you want to hang around these kinds of people." "I had to dress down just to come to this place." "I prefer to hang out with people with money." "You are not like the people in here. You don't belong here." I don't understand how someone could honestly think they were better than someone else. I am floored. Mr. I have something to say: "These people" may not dress in suits, may make less than 30 buck an hour, and yes, they may not be able to even afford what you sell in your business, however- we,(yes, I am included in "these people") are just as good as you. We may not be rich, but we are happy. He couldn't understand that. He honestly thought you couldn't be happy if you weren't rich. Wow. Money does not equal happy, and obviously, it cannot buy manners either. Sheesh! What a night.. What a bore! |

In a democracy the poor will have more power than the rich, because there are more of them, and the will of the majority is supreme.
In poverty and other misfortunes of life, true friends are a sure refuge. The young they keep out of mischief; to the old they are a comfort and aid in their weakness, and those in the prime of life they incite to noble deeds. Aristotle is wise |

You obviously have way too much class for him. Very true. |

After he spewed all his judgements I wouldve lifted my leg and farted and said "I'm sorry, what did you say about middle class working people?"

Heck, I'm still working my way up to being white trash, in that guy's book.
What a noble feeling that there is hope for me. |

what is a road house??? It's a bar, not a club. It has live rock and roll and down to earth people. Everyone from bikers to hippies, college kids to punk rockers, everyone is welcome. It's a great place. |

Ouch. Sorry, I could not spend five minutes with anyone like that. And I myself am QUITE the grammar/spelling/punctuation snob. But that has little, if anything, to do with money.... |

Mr. I have something to say:
"These people" may not dress in suits, may make less than 30 buck an hour, and yes, they may not be able to even afford what you sell in your business, however- we,(yes, I am included in "these people") are just as good as you. We may not be rich, but we are happy. I wouldn't have wasted a good opportunity to say that to his face, but I can sort of see why you didn't. Hm... now that I think about it, I would have sidled up to one of my roadhouse friends and repeated some of this person's remarks to him, and then waited for the fun to start. "Never waste a good opportunity to see some jerk get his comeuppance!" has been a favorite motto of mine for a long time. But again: I understand why you waited until now to express this. You were probably feeling a bit embarrassed that you had not seen this side of him prior to actually going out in public with him, and were just trying to make the best of a bad situation. I do make 30 bucks an hour, and I would rather hang out in the type of place you are describing--er... well, as long as the food's good, of course. Spending my hard-earned money on "ambiance" is something I only do if it's my boyfriend's birthday, and there are lots of strippers, Cuban cigars, ale, and bourbon involved. Anyway, I'm thinking that it's odd that you didn't realize that this man was that kind of person BEFORE you exposed him to your favorite social setting and friends. Now he's gonna know where you like to hang out, right? The fact that he was trying to separate you from the herd is a bad sign as well--he was expressing disdain for your friends so he manipulate you into a situation where there won't be anyone to help you, meaning of course that he thinks you are naive. If it was me I would tell people at this place to keep an eye out for this gentleman, and keep a distance from him in the future. Well: Better luck next time! yours in Chaos, Scarlett |
