Ok, so I agreed to meet someone for a coffee date and we agreed on a time and I waited around for 30 minutes past the agreed upon time, then I left. What is your limit of waiting for someone to show? I am a real stickler on being punctual I'd rather be 30 minutes early than 1 minute late for anything. I feel that barring a major catastrophe (traffic jam, medical emergency)there shouldn't be any excuse for someone not being on time for a first meeting. What's your opinion on this. This person apologized and said they got a 50 minutes late start and that's why they were late.He didn't have my cell number or home phone number (don't like giving those out UNTIL I know them better.

Oh and let me ask this also, he said he really wants to meet me, should I give him another chance? What would you do?

What does "late start" mean??? Were they asleep and just forgot you or was there something more serious going on that made the late start happen???
Too hard to call in this venue with just the info you gave... If you want to try it again, it's your call. Just be forewarned from this time around. |

Agree with Galen, need the reason for the lateness.
Does it seem real, or smell of smoke & wind. 50 minutes late is extreme, to me. I frequently run a few minutes late, but never that much. Second chance, only if you believe his story/excuse for the first. Maybe some long distance chatting for a while? |

Could it be that the wife was late ironing his shirt and pressing his pants?

i've never had anybody not show up for a coffee date. i've heard though, of some who arrive early and scope you out when you arrive, or have a friend do so. (if the latter, they are waiting nearby with a cell phone handy.) then they either proceed to go in and meet you, or not, based on what they think of your looks or what the operative with the cell phone told them. |
