There was someone here that knew a bit about poltergeists, ghosts and such. I got this email from a friend of my sister's and was wondering if anyone can help her.

OK. Something really strange is happening at my house. This weekend I had three nights in a row of dreams about ghosts, specifically ghosts. Not monsters, not chainsaw masscre terrifying stuff, but ghosts. I always remember my dreams, and they are typically very vivid and alot of the time very scary. When I woke up on Sunday morning, Kevin asked me if I slept OK, and I said no, and that I had dreamed about ghosts all night, and he said so did he. He thought ghosts were talking to him all night. He NEVER remembers his "dreams". Then McKenna woke up (on Sunday also) she was acting weird and tired so I asked her what her problem was and she said she was awake alot because ghosts were talking to her all night! That is exactlly what she said, the same as Kevin had said! So I was thinking there was someone trying to tell us something. Also, McKenna has had this irrational fear of the dark for the last few days and has been turning on EVERY light in the house as soon as it gets dark. In fact, I took a dollar from her allowance because I have had to tell her repeatedly to turn off lights or she would be giving a dollar to help pay for electrical bills. Even that was not enough to discourage her! Then tonight Michelle said that her bedroom light was flashing on and off, and she had not heard our conversations about our dreams the other night. Tonight McKenna was standing there and looked at her sisters and asked if they could hear the person talking to her. They could not, and thought it was just McKenna being McKenna (Little Ms. ADHD) None of us, except me and Kevin have talked, (and it was LATE at night and the kids were fast asleep) about the strange things that have been happening. What in the world is going on???? Are we crazy all at the same time or could there be something else working here? Sorry for the long story, but it has been so odd, all of these things going on within the last three-four days. What do you think?

Not crazy....I have gone through things like this...not the dreams...actual loud noises...like banging dresser drawers and such and the entire family was hearing it...seeing shadows in the bedrooms...really freaky

Hm... well your story sounds pretty convincing. It doesn't SEEM as though you or your friend are making it all up, but I mean: Who knows for sure? People send me emails all the time about stuff that happened to their friends and relatives. Sometimes they seem disappointed that I don't get all excited and start telling them that they need to get a voodoo priest to come over and exorcise the house.

In a case of what seems to be paranormal activity that involves more than a second-hand story, I always try to rule out the more obvious mundane possible causes first, i.e., squirrels, racoons, a gas leak, someone playing games, a mean neighbor, a whacko landlord, etc.

Synchronous dreams between family members are not all that unusual, so let's discard that for the time being. Again, I'm not saying that it doesn't have meaning, but most of what you're talking about here involves dreams. If you remove the dreams from the equations you have:

Kids seeing lights flashing off and on, and kids saying they can hear things.

The children are probably not making stuff up, either, but as I'm sure you know kids are very psychic and are often profoundly affected by stuff that is merely implied and not stated directly. They also get excited very easily and will often see or hear things that seem "real" to them when they are overwrought.

There could be something going on here besides someone going to bed on a full stomach, but I would hesitate to make a diagnosis based on what is basically hearsay.

If you go over to your friend's house and see the lights flashing off and on by themselves, or if you go over there and then start having dreams about "ghosts" you will have something besides hearsay to go on.

At this point, based on the evidence, I would say that it's just some overactive imaginations and maybe faulty wiring.

I think he means Voodoo, or Voodon... and I'm not sure how that would help either...but you know how people like to throw catch phrases around.

There is someone here on this site who helped Redhead with her "ghost" issue and I'm hoping he sees this thread. If anyone else has any thoughts on what it might be feel free to post. I don't know much about poltergeists or ghosts.

No, I'm sorry I didn't mean to imply that. There was someone here who knew about how these things come about and that's partly what I want to know. I agree with your suggestions above and I'm sorry I didn't acknowledge them.

And, actually Scarlett dismissed it as probably not true.

Do some EVP work, and see if you can get some voices on tape. Seems to work on TV anyway.

for her talking to the ghosts,states she is a meduim as meduims only talk to the dead.. my nephew had a dream about 6months ago as where he was actually talking to the neghbor grandmother that died last yr and she was talking back at him. he didnt understand that untill i told him.. i cant comunicate with the dead but i can hear voices every now and then(and music)
