Lily - what a way to start your day! but glad it happened as it did, imagine if you weren't present and the kid did CPR on that lady... yikes.
things happen for a reason and today your reason was to help a stranger |

Good thing you were there before that kid that wanted to do CPR......I learned in my First Responder training you can actually hurt someone with CPR if they don't NEED it..... just 2 cents worth Rule of thumb if someone is breathing they HAVE a pulse. If there is the faintest of breath or pulse you cannot do CPR. Absolutely right you are!!!! That's what I learned. |

{{{Lily0923}}} Of course, you did everything right.... As a Former Firefighter/EMT and First-responder/Safety Instructor (Including CPR for The American Heart Ass'n) I too, have been in those types of situations.... Than GOD you were there... Sorry about your Milk and Bread.... Bro Clark |

Poor lady. |

People break ribs all the time... This is true...but I ALSO learned that broken ribs or even a broken sternum was trivial to a non-beating heart. I was just refering to someone who didn't need CPR. Sorry |

((((Lily)))) Yeah, I'm going to try to be a good boy for now. Whatever that means... whatever you do, don't become a 'nice guy' |

Poor lady. glad you were there to take control and handle the situation Personally, the kid should have just called 911. In any sort of emergency as long as the first responder to an incident knows what they are doing, you pretty much just back off and help them if they need it. (Usually meaning -- they specifically ask for it.) Otherwise if you insist on doing something, it's better to just play crowd control. If Lily hadn't been there, that idiot might have killed her or at the very least caused serious injury. |

What grocery store was it? I want to make sure and never go there.

I go to the grocery store today to get bread and milk. That's all I wanted bread and milk. As I walked through the meat department a lady convulses and falls to the floor. I drop all of my stuff to try to catch her, dropping my milk and it made a huge mess, this dopey guy that works there sees me and goes to grab a mop that is right there. I yell at him to call 911, I would call from my phone but I'm trying to help this lady. He yells to the people in the meat department to call 911 and comes over to "help" and says we need to give her CPR. I say "She's breathing she's having a seizure there's nothing we can do except keep her from hurting herself" He insists she needs CPR. At this point a manager or supervisor or something comes over and I tell him to get this guy out of the way and ask him for something to put under her head. I wait there til EMS comes, and was so frazzled I left the store with no milk or bread. It's not even 10am yet.... Can I have a do over for the day? |

There were other people in a resonable distance, someone would have stopped him.
