tthe funny part was that it's a thread about racial assumptions and differences and the big fight in it had nothing to do with race

I'll say this.

Prejudice isn't owned by any group.

The origin of prejudice, I beleive go to our earliest senses, the ones that allowed us, as humans to survive.

When our (yes our...we share more common genetic material than some would like to acknowledge) ancestors were battling animals and each other for survival, when we were discovering fire etc. one of our earliest survival mechanisms was knowing who or what was a friend or an enemy.

Familiarity equaled safety...or more safety than could be found with strangers who were competing for the same resources.

It's in our deep brains...what is familiar is safe...what is foreign represents a threat.

That said, we are not just animals we are thinking animals. It is our obligation to look past our animal reactions and rise to our potential.

You can tell me I am wrong but how often have you looked out your window at your neighbor, or watched a news report or walked down the street and seeing anther person have you thought, I am not like them?

In truth I think we are all much more like each other than we'd like to admit.

There's clearly a racist element left in our society, but it's dying thankfully. Just because someone opposes Obama doesn't mean they're a racist, but some of them are.

If that's not you, then let it go. Nobody can make you feel guilty. That takes your consent.
