So, I have a roommate. There is a lot about her that just really bothers me. She's rude, selfish, loud, and demanding. She calls herself the goddess and seriously expects everyone to mold themselves to her whims and emotions. She never helps with food, but complains when we don't have any (or when I don't buy boneless chicken "I won't eat anything with a bone" or fresh greens that she doesn't use and therefore go bad). Instead, she buys $60 perfume and $80 shoes -- by the bag! If she wants to do something everyone else better well do it, too, or she throws a 2-year-old fit. She never cleans up after herself and always has a pissy retort when I ask her to.
ANYway, you get the idea... Now, her boyfriend, who is a friend of mine and with whom nothing will ever happen between he and I so this is NOT jealousy (he's like a brother), is a very sweet guy. He texts me and asks if we need anything for the house (shampoo, cleaning supplies, food, even meds for my kids!), helps clean, does the dishes and takes out the garbage. He doesn't even live there! He also tries to make things easier on me with her (for example he bought a pizza for her the other day when she was hungry and wanted to cook and we had hardly any food in the house for my kids... all the while looking at me like "I'm sorry".) ...so here's my question. WHY THE HELL IS HE WITH HER? What does a sweet guy like that see in such a selfish b*tch? Are all the nice guys with b*tches? Is that where they are? Is that why I can't find one? Seriously though. I'm confused. Help??? |

She was a friend. She's going to college. I invited her to live with me while she goes so she won't have to worry about bills until she graduates. I'm a teacher. I care a lot about education. I had no idea how much of a pain in the ass she was.
That's why. |

Some very sweet, caring, considerate guys have "people-pleaser" tendencies and get comfortable in that role. A lot of them don't even resent being taken advantage of -- I know a couple of guys like that. I figure, hey, if that's what they're into, OK. I couldn't do it, but it works for them....

Hmm I don't think you really need to concern yourself with her, I think you need to find a new roommate! Does she atleast pay half the rent? Does she really do anything except make a mess?
You say that you have children, well I think I would be finding someone better then her to be a good role model for my kids!! You don't want your kids to think its alright to buy things instead of paying your bills. I think you should kick her out and take her boyfriend!! |

I had no idea how much of a pain in the ass she was. That's why. That was really very sweet of you, God knows I wish I'd had someone like that. But, if she's going to continue taking advantage of this situation, I'd definitely let her know it's time to go and find someone who will appreciate that offer. Good luck to you! |
