Well depends on two factors...how deeply I was involved in Christianity..It used to bother me, if someone was arguing w/ me over the existence of God and Jesus, but not soo much anymore...if he is just Agnostic (meaning if he was not sure about the Bible and existence of Jesus and God) I would date. Atheist prolly not..those people are usually a bit on the scary side anyway..and it is not about the devil worshiping and stuff, but more the morals of those people in general, which in my opinion is what Christianity or any Religion is mostly about and based on. and that is very important to me.

Yes, there's one part of me that believes that my living example could be enough to in a way influence their decision about their own faith walk, and if theyre cool enough to consider dating me knowing im a christian then, they can't really be that...against it right?

So..what you're saying is...if you don't believe in God...then you have no morals...there is something seriously wrong with you...

Agnostic.. Maybe...

Others.. No... This doesn't mean I would not be their friend, but there would be no romantic involvement....

Im a non-Chrisitian and I would have no problem dating a Christian but not if it became a constant battle of wills and they were incessantly proselytizing and telling me Im going to hell. Relationships can be difficult enough without that extra friction. I basically expect this level of courtesy from anyone, female or male. Friend or otherwise. Respect me enough not to impose your spirituality or beliefs on my life and I will do the same.

I often see women state in their posts that they seek a man who has 'Christian Values'.

I'm not sure what that means. I have values that are higher than Christian values. But I don't believe in Christianity nor am I interested in attending or joining a church.

I'm also not interested in living with a woman who is constantly praising God and giving God credit for every little thing that goes right. Nor am I interested in praying in the conventional sense of (i.e Making verbal requests to God in short prayers).

I don't believe God works that way. I'm also not going to publically support Christianity. I think the religion is detrimental to society as a whole.

However, I seriously doubt that a woman could find a more highly moral man than myself. So if she rejects me on the grounds that I'm not a Christian that's her lose. I hope for her sake that the 'Christian' man she finally finds turns out to be a decent man. I've met far too many men who call themselves 'Christian', but they are truly not nice people to be around. They can often be very opinionated, bigoted, and argumentative. They might not even agree with the original woman are her idea of what "Christian Values" even means!

I don't drink, smoke, cheat, steal, or do anything to undermine another person in any way.

To think that I have lesser values than a Christian is a joke to be sure.

But like I say, I'm not joining any church or hanging around with 'Christians'. I used to be an active Christian and it's been my experience that those people who attend those churches aren't any different from anyone else. They'll smile and be polite on Sunday at church and then stab you in the back on Monday morning.

It a joke to think that just because someone claims to be a 'Christian' that it actually means anything.

I'd rather have non-religious person as a partner in life. Or at least one who just claims to be religious but doesn't actually do anything about it. laugh

As an example, almost all of my past girlfriends were Christians. However, they didn't attend chruch, and they also didn't pray before every meal etc. They believed in Christianty because that's how they were brought up. They were good people (just like me). They would never intentionally hurt anyone.

But they weren't like this because of their 'religion'. Their religion was just a result of social conditioning. They claimed to be 'Christians' because they were taught that it is the right thing to do!

The bottom line is that they would continue to be good persons even if they discovered that there is no god!

To me, that's more important than anything. Is a person wants to be good even though they don't even believe in God, then you know you are with a genuinely good person!

If the only reason they are being good is because they have faith in God then maybe they aren't so good after all. What if they lose faith? Maybe there natural rotten side will begin to emerge!

That's one thing about an atheist. You don't need to worry about them losing faith.

If an atheist is a good person today, there's a good chance that they'll still be a good person tomorrow. They have no 'faith' issues to struggle with.

I see some good points raised here.

"Respect me enough not to impose your spirituality or beliefs on my life and I will do the same." - The gate swings both ways, but I am sure you know that.

Abra, As for not wanting to be with someone
who is praising excessively, I can understand that.

I would not want or expect a man to be subject
to the kind of praise, or worship music I listen to, if they were not interested in that.

However, I would not be being myself if I denied my faith or limited my worship time, and I would find it difficult to respect a man who would want me to do so. Without respect, there is no love.

I agree britty and that is why I added "and I will do the same." Its absolutely a two way street and I imagine we would have far fewer altercations between humans and nations if we could find it within ourselves to be a little more passive and tolerant.

How can one be a Christian from birth?

Is there some new gene I'm unaware of?

If one is a Christian from birth, can one be an atheist from birth?

If religion is a birth right, does one have the "right" to deny it?

If one chooses to worship a higher power by the name of Hitler, should we fear some new genetic construct will pass that belief on to their children?

How can one be ANY religion from birth?

But if one can be a religion from birth, Who are you, or any Christian or anyone else to believe what you were born with is any better than what someone else is born with?

Therefore, in summary - if one is born to with the capablility to love, how can one choose not to?
