How likely is it for a teacher to sit down and count the number of words on pages and pages of book reports?

i wouldn't guess very likely...they probably know about how many words fit on a page and do it that way. i know i'm not going to want to when i'm a teacher! haha.

Depends....if your known for slacking or not getting your work done, she may check to make sure you completed it.
But other than that...I agree with katrina, they can probably guesstimate by how many pages it is and the size of your writing. |

i always wondered that growing up too. Or the famous it has to be two pages long so my words were written so big one time i so had to do it all over again, cuz it was "unacceptable"

Nowadays they have them write it in word, submit it through e-mail and have the program tell them how many words are in it!

I don't know about the schools in the Great White North....but the teachers around here ( to some degree ) are barely more educated than the students they " teach ".
If they could even COUNT to 1000 words ( or whatever the count needed to be ) without losing concentration, I would be shocked. |

For standard fonts, there is an average word per page that is used. Hand written has an average too. Unless it is obvious, most won't bother with it. So if you are required to use a 1 inch side margins on typed papers, you can usually get away with a 1.1 or 1.2 without getting called on it.
