BRADENTON, Fla. — A Manatee County woman has set what law enforcement officials are calling a new local record.

Authorities say 41-year-old Janet Landrum was arrested for her 10th drunken-driving charge on Saturday. A passenger in the vehicle told deputies that Landrum was driving because the passenger was too drunk too drive.

Federal traffic records show that Landrum has been arrested at least nine other times in several states over the past 20 years.

Landrum was charged with driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license. She was released on $13,000 bail.

When I was a Deputy, one night I was doing laundry at a laundromat that happened to be next to a bar. The change machine was broken, and I was kinda thirsty anyway, so I went into the bar to get a beer and change.

After my eyes adjusted to the darkness, I saw a guy talking to the bartender. In his hand was a .380 automatic. He was told by the bartender to put that damn thing away. I got my change, and the man left.

I walked to the payphone, and called the locals on him after I got his plate number. He got a UUW, and a DUI. The next night, at a different bar, he was there again. He came up to my buddy, and asked him to relay a message to me that he'd give me the gun if I somehow got his charges dropped. I asked my buddy if he thought the guy was drunk. He said the guy was smashed.

I told my buddy to tell him NO, I was not interested, and he did.

The guy then got in his car, and left. I was on the phone to the same locals before he even moved his car. They pulled him over, and gave him another DUI..

I laughed when he didn't show up for court.. He got another DUI the night before.. 3 in 2 weeks...

People it's ok to have a drink, but at least drink responsibly. If not for yourself for everyone else.

slapheadDON'T DRINK AND DRIVE!slaphead

Sad part is that many continue to drink and drive. Never learning nor caring about those they can hurt. brokenheart

I say we just start beating them with bottles of booze and street signs.... the many cracking down on the few.

I'm also all for ignition interlocks. No one can start their car over the legal limit of the state/county in which their car is registered.

So much for keeping them off the roads. That's shameless, not just the drunk drivers, but our system for letting them repeatedly get back on the roads.

Actually he can barely walk and no longer drives..if he is caught behind the wheel of a car, drunk or sober...he is going back for the rest of his life

now I am opening myself to get some heat, but he belongs behind bars, arrested over 100 times. The only reason he was released was to avoid the medical expenses of treating that person.
