Please help with a question, but don't cut and paste it from the web anywhere. I can find the answer just the same, but I still won't understand it.

What is the definition of left-wing and right-wing, and where, if you can figure, would I fall? I believe that I'm a conservative Democrat, but maybe I'm wrong. Any bashing done to what I believe in will be ignored, I just want info.

These are my beliefs, but in no particular order.

Death Penalty. Fine by me. If there's reputable witnesses to the murder, or irrefutable dna evidence, it should be carried out within 5 years, not 20.

Abortion. Personally against, but it should be the woman's choice.

Gun rights. All for having one, as I do, but no need to have fully-auto weapons.

Military. All for, as I served 9 yrs.

Military in Iraq. Against, but as we're already there, get us out as soon as feasible.

Military chasing down bin laden. All for. Get that SOB.

Stronger sentences, and truth in sentences.. All for, as I used to be a cop, too. 30 years should be 30 years.

Homosexuality. Does not bother me, but should be kept off regular tv.

Gay Rights. Again, does not bother me. I have straight rights, why aren't they my equals?

Gays in the military. They've been there as long as there's been one, why change it now?

Parental responsibilities. Duh. Make the child responsible for the actions, and make the parents responsible for the child.

Prayer in Schools. Uh.. No thoughts. I'm God fearing, but the guy next to me might be Allah fearing..

Despite what we or the media or whoever believes most american's political beliefs fall into the middle of the bell curve. Eventhough the Democratic and Republican party is view to be at the exteremes, most of americans fall in the middle. I consider myself a moderate republican and I have similar views as you do.

Personally I think the two party system is running this country in the ground. I'm like you that have views that goes either way. I vote for the best person as I see fit, only lately its hard to find one. I am a registered Independent..

That's why I register as an Independent. I don't belong to either party. You're not dense, you just can't be classified or labeled, politically speaking.

I think the whole left - right argument is about keeping us fighting amongst ourselves. Meanwhile big bussiness & the super rich have taken over our government right under our noses.

I am personally thinking of writing in a candidate, because voting for one of the two isn't going to change anything. It wont change until Americans decide to take back their country and I don't see that happening anytime soon.. JMO

Death penalty, your belief makes you conservative or republican, right winger. I believe the death penalty is too permanent consider the failures of our justice system, making me liberal on this one.

Gun rights, your view makes you right wing. I am all for sane, level headed, mentally well people owning guns. My view is the restrictions on guns now are not as effective as I would hope, makes me more left wing on this one.

Military, I believe all nations need a military. Preemptive strikes should not be a possibility though. Your views on military make you right wing.

Your view on the war makes you left wing or liberal, at least that is what the right wing, republicans would say. I believe it makes you a very intelligent person.

Stronger sentences makes you right wing. I believe for the heinous crimes people should never see daylight again. But for those on drugs and the other issues we need to revamp the penal system, it does not work for this criminal. Makes me middle of the road.

Homosexuality, most of your views are liberal, left wing except for the comment of keeping it off TV. If is it equal to your form of love than it should be allowed on the tv just like heterosexual love and sex is shown on tv. It is only fair. Makes me liberal on this subject.

I believe parental responsibility needs to be pushed for some parents because for some reason they do not seem to think they are responsible but making those teens responsible for themselves is a must because they are forming their self responsibility. I think this makes me right wing on this.

Your views of prayer in schools or public places makes you left wing. I agree. Religion needs to be kept at a personal level not a public forced event.

As an Independent, I try to weigh the issues
and then decide for myself.

There are conservative positions I agree with
just as there are liberal positions.

I don't let a political party dictate how I should think.

I try to use logic, what makes sense, and
what seems fair to me.

I am against abortion & gay rights. I personally think religion is a great way to teach people self control & respect for the law. If they knew that, there would be no need for laws that are taking our God given "Guaranteed" rights away from us. It's always in "GOVT'S" best interest to dumb down their people. Look at how they rob everything right out from under our noses...but wait! Too many who vote believe their lies.

I am for the war on terror. I think we need to drill short term, dust the technology off the shelves & start turning to alternative sources. The heck with the rest of the world & let's tell the mid east where they can put their oil. I'm sick of them too. Maybe if our companies stepped up to the plate to bring on this new technology for alternative fuel it could just be the BOON that Americans keep waiting for. Yu think?

I hate that Americans bought into this global kabaal that is costing us our jobs, our freedoms & all that is good. Along with our people our society is being dumbed down too. Not to mention that we keep being dragged into other nations' problems & fights. Sorry...but this world has gotten UGLY. I want out! All those who think it's so great can move or fight your own battles. Leave me alone.

I am for putting up a fence on the borders & sooner rather than later. It is disgraceful that the govt. isn't doing what it should to secure our borders. Get the illegals out...they are taking jobs from Americans.

I am for people having healthcare through their jobs & not govt. controlled healthcare...Oh! But wait...all the jobs are going because of those who think Globalism is a BOON for the people. Can I sell you a bridge?

I am for a decent wage with benefits for people who work.

I am also for fixing the HUGE trade deficit.
