Just wanting to know how the economy has effected employment, related to layoffs and companies closing in your areas? Around here things are getting very scary. |

It's been bad in my area for at least the last 5 years. Plants closing down, major layoffs. If you are lucky to get a job at McDonald's or a gas station you better hold on to it cause the chances of you finding another job locally are slim to none!

I'm currently looking for a new job. I left my old one cause I was fearful of what would happen, and wanted a career change. Thank God for savings.

Cedar Rapids, Iowa were busy as hell at work. but I dont know of any factorys that have been hiring. With over 9 sq miles of the city being underwater in June theres alot of repair work going on.

I was laid off in November, I took a writing gig to pay the bills, still no jobs, but I can afford to be picky for a bit... I've been told I'm overqualified for the postions that I have applied for... Yes, the job market sucks, can't wait for the Democrats to get back into office, then turn the economy around and save the country from itself...

Maybe it's just me, cause I'm not looking for work, but the economy here is doing just fine. As a matter of fact, everywhere I go seems to have help wanted signs out!!! Having several casinos around doesn't hurt the money in the town either. |

Everything is outsourcing over-seas...what more is there to know? Either that or machines are taking over the jobs, which makes empoyees null and void. |
