I went yesterday to upload everything into their computer and my first official day is Tuesday.

Uhhh. Where to begin without getting off on the wrong foot. Remember playing make-believe as kids? Cowboys and Indians, Rescuing the fair damsel, stuff like that? That's the basic plot of what we're doing.

I just realized this works a lot better if you've watched Lord of the Rings.

Now the form.

Basically it's a bunch of guys (sometimes women, but mostly guys unfortunately) sitting around a table creating a story together.

In our current campaign, we're playing sailors on flying ships with elves and dwarves flying between floating islands. Below is a link to my character's log of the adventures. Feel free to take a look.

One player is the person who guides the story (or at least has a framework), he's commonly called the GM. The other people are players. Think of them as the Fellowship from LOTR. Each has a different character they roleplay. The GM runs the other characters (Sauroman, the ork horde, shelob, even the elven council) the players interact with.

Usually there's some large goal the group is trying to achieve (destroy the One Ring, something like that), but most sessions are spent accomplishing smaller tasks like escaping the orks, slipping into Mordor, things like that.

Sword and Sorcery is one of the most common settings, but I've done Victorian with Vampires, Superheroes, Vietnam, Pirates, Star Wars, lots of different types.
