Topic: Aquariums | |

I just set up a 75 gallon tank in my living room. Filled it Thursday & it's ready to stock. I am getting some guppies tomorrow, & after the water quality is stable I am getting Angelfish. I have a few tetras left in a smaller tank.
Anyone else like aquariums? What kind of fish do you have? |

Handsome dog!
Angelfish are chiclids too, buit they don't have the typical chiclid shape or personality. |

Had a 100 gallon salt water tank at my old house. When I sold the house the buyers wanted the tank as part of the deal...
I want to set up another one, but haven't had the time |

It took me 8 months to make desisions on setting this up! I didn't want to move it! I considered a saltwater tank, but I will wait a while. I have 7 tanks but only 2 are set up right now. |

we have a 75 and a 30 salt water tank set up. we recently developed ick in the 75 and it pretty much killed everything in it. We lost a lion fish, red emporer, 4 damsels, a dwarf lion fish, and a royal gama. We have 2 large damsels, a sand sifter, a snowflake eel, and a porcupine puffer left in it. We have the 30 set up now with all of our snails, sea erchins, and hermies cause of the ick medication and it's deadly affect on them. Oh yeah and we lost a sohal tang too, but he got the sh!t kicked out him and died from the fight.
question though, are you sure its ready? when we set up our 75 it took 3 weeks to get the water cycled before we could add fish to it. i'm no expert, and really i'm not questioning your knowledge, guess i'm just curious as to why ours took so long. |

Freshwater dosn't take as long, I will add a few fish & then wait until the biological filter has stabilized befor adding more. Sorry to hear about you losing all those fish! Marine fish aren't cheap either! |

I used to have a BUNCH of aquariums. Don't have enough room for any right now, but as soon as I find a cheap enough house, you can bet I'll have more.

Well...my apartment is my home until i can afford something bigger.
I would look for another apartment, but it's nearly impossible to find one that will let you have pets. No way am I getting rid of my dog or my cat. |

Marine fish aren't cheap either! i see! thanks for clearifying that for me. we were really sad to see it happen too. we did our best to save them, but unfortunatly it just didnt work. funny thing is the porcupine puffer developed ick first and she is doing great now. We figured money wise, this year alone, we've lost $500+ to the fish. lol this topic just reminded me i need to go buy more krill tomorrow. i'm almost out! thanks! |

No way am I getting rid of my dog or my cat. I understand that. I bought a mobile home & am in a park right now. It's about as nice as a trailer park can be, but I can't wait to have my own land & some horses! |

I don't need a lot, but I think Jake sure would appreciate it. |

I rode today for the 1st time in years. My friend took pictures & there is one of me that actually isn't bad! (OK maybe it's the horse that looks good) If he can help me get it online I might share it with my friends here.
I love horses, I used to have 2 horses & a donkey. |

i dont know why, but i've always been afraid of horses. LOL Well they are big, but once you understand how they communicate & the basics of handleing them, they are not so indimidating. They are like large dogs, they need good training to repect people. |

i miss my tank
i used to have a 120 gallon tank housed with african cichlids - even managed to get a few to breed when we moved, we didn't take the tank with us, instead sold it to a couple of young guys and i never did start it up again it's one of the best ways to reduce stress. i used to love to watch these fish landscape - they are known for moving the pieces of gravel around and making holes which becomes their territory. |
