To me it's in the frame of mind and not just the physical "hands off" meaning of "friends first. Some people are sizing up for bf/gf potential from GO...I prefer to think of that once I have the respect of their friendship. So, you could say that I'll only date established friends...not establish friendships out of dates.

I agree with you, but I look at it this way...and maybe why I'm having such an issue with it, when I meet someone, I just let nature take it's course, I don't think this guy is "potential" anything, I meet them, get to know them, and see where it goes. I don't rule out a relationship, but I don't look at it as if he is a "potential" bayfriend. I let people be to me who they want to be, if they wanna be friends, then they will be friendly, if they wanna be enemies, I'l accomodate that also. There are certain things I look for in a relatinship, and rushing into one isn't it, so if they do that, they become aquantences. "Oh ya, I know that guy, I went out with him once" kinda thing. |

I agree with you, but I look at it this way...and maybe why I'm having such an issue with it, when I meet someone, I just let nature take it's course, I don't think this guy is "potential" anything, I meet them, get to know them, and see where it goes. I've seen this in a thousand profiles, doesn't everyone start as friends? I mean I hardly meet someone and start as enemies, or meet someone and start as lovers. What does that mean? It means you aren't getting any for a while so don't even try.. It's really not that hard to figure out..

Usually people who say that are the FIRST ones to give in... It's like they know they have to say it, so when it happens they can say "I never do this" I have noticed people put that in as a stipulation to contacting them... IMO if all you are looking for is a friend go hang out on Yahoo messenger not on a dating site.. So ya, I think people putting that on their profile is dumb and really makes me not want to attempt to talk to them... Then again I have only been on here for a week so what do I know... Maybe this is what we are doing wrong.
If we reverse the process......begin as bitter hateful enemies......maybe we can find something that will last. Kinda like playing a country record backwards.... Ya get your house, truck, dog, kids and friends back........ Just a thought!!!!!!!
