Going for that second helping of icecream now. Sorry, I should say "don't do it", but that would be hypocritical, since I do. Especially when I'm depressed!

lol snuggles......i think i'm starting to get depressed too....so much going on and i feel like i'm bein pulled limb from limb....especially in the home situation.

I've been known to get sucked into the emotional eating spiral now and again (though usually only during that time of the month when I'm extra moody). I just try to limit the amount of junk food I allow myself to have. Like have a bowl of cookie dough ice cream (my weakness, for sure), then if I still feel like eating something, I go for something more healthy. Health food isn't quite as satisfying as that ice cream, but then I don't feel as guilty after the fact. I'm partial to sugar snap peas and strawberries.

I am a really bad emotional eater .... actually I think my eating has turned into an addiction. I have gained so much weight in the past year it's insane. I realize that if I don't stop now I am going to die. I just feel like I can't dig myself out of the hole i'm in.

anyone else dealing with it? I do the exact opposite... When I'm sad like I've been a lot of the time lately, I tend to eat less...not a good idea for someone with rapid metabolism... |

Emotional eaters, hell yeah, I can relate to that. So much easier said than done but just stop, walk away, go for a walk, do something anything but eat. Like all addictions, it's a downward spiral, you feel bad, you eat, you temporarily feel better so you keep eating, you feel sick, ashamed, guilty, etc. So you eat more to make yourself feel better. And, unlike addictions to drugs or alcohol, you cannot avoid food, you can't get it out of your house. You have to eat in order to live. Controlling it is the hard part. I have it under control sometimes, sometimes not. But, at least I've gotten to the point, finally, of being able to recognize it before it gets too out of hand, at least most of the time.
One thing I've learned is to find something that makes you feel good that has NOTHING to do with food. And you have to do this when you're not in the cycle of the emotional eating. That way, you have something to use as a tool to help get you past it. Good luck to you! You'll be ok |

because im going through a rough time at the moment, im not eating, i never eat more when im upset, i just stop eating.

if youre feeling full, at least youre feeling something....when Im upset I tend to eat alot..which is why I drink and smoke instead...that way I dont get fat....

Yea I used to be a emotional eater..
I used to eat when I was sad, happy whatever.. You have to find an outlet..or deal w/ your emotions. What I did is everytime I get pissed I go for a run or walk..ha ha I do walk alot..and eat much less..and it works;) |

Sadly, I've delt with the same thing before, still deal with it at times. What I did? Eat, thats cool
But try to make it somewhat better eat better things I used to be bulemic for the longest time (til i realized i liked food too much haha), so I know how it feels to eat and eat and hope it gets better but it doesn't so you eat more its a huge catch 22 ya know? just do what i did buy bags of apples, carrots and such munch on those |
