I think that everything that happens in LIFE can be justified with a reason at some point...but I don't feel that not believing in coincidence necessarily means I believe in fate...per say.
![]() I have free will and as long as I do...everything I do, I have one reason or another for choosing to do so...even if it's just because it's something I want to do. ![]() |

Or are you asking if I believe God has a plan for me/us/the universe as a whole?
![]() Then yes...I believe that he does. ![]() |

auburngirl - Who or what controls this "reason" that we cross paths? I believe God has put people into my path. I believed that with the people I came to know during his illness and death, I believe that with friends that have come into my life since, and I believe that the path, odd as it was, was made way to meet someone special. Now, we did make a conscience choice to put ourselves in the same place that caused the meeting, but what are the odds of that? |

I believe God has put people into my path. I believed that with the people I came to know during his illness and death, I believe that with friends that have come into my life since, and I believe that the path, odd as it was, was made way to meet someone special. Now, we did make a conscience choice to put ourselves in the same place that caused the meeting, but what are the odds of that? I personally believe that the odds aren't particularly convincing, but my initial premise for not believing that things happen for a reason was that I didn't believe in a higher power. Assuming belief in a higher power, it becomes much more reasonable (almost necessary) to think that everything happens for a reason. |

That could likely be the very key to differences of opinion. |

I can see what you mean. That could likely be the very key to differences of opinion. I'm certain that it is. What I'm more curious about is the people who believe that everything happens for a reason, but not in a way that's related to a deity figure. |

How about Karma then? I think that Karma is nature's way of showing us that we have really selective cognition. My point being that people pay attention when the "rules" of Karma seem to be met, but ignore the fact that more often than not, the "rules" don't actually play out. |
