the thoughts come up but the words just go away
so we sit, and the silence screams so loud
we both should say "sorry" but we are too proud

minutes pass and still nothing is said
it kills us both, but the air around stays dead
my head is full of thundering static and silence
a million thoughts at once that together make no sense

you clear your throat and the sound cuts through the air
instead of words, i get an raging, burning glare
seconds pass, then you stand and walk away
not a word, but still, you had your say
