Topic: When you told your family... | |

Parents, children etc that you'd met someone on line, and were planning to go to visit them, what were the reactions you received? It really wouldn't matter. I never said "it mattered" I said it's a hassle! |

I told my Mom I was talking to someone online...and she said, "He could be a serial killer for all you know!" So I didn't bother to tell her it was through a dating site. My own mother doin the old double standard too, since she thought it was nice when my brother met his wife online. They've been married 11 years now. Stupid brother gets all the breaks. Oh I remember that well!!! Always a different set of rules for me than there was them. But...now...we all have, or had, our own families, our parents are deceased, and the older one just doesn't seem to care about my dating PERIOD! Whatever...not like I'm doing anything wrong. My husband died for goodness sakes! Dating in high school was a living hell , but out of all the kids I have the only children so I am a little more special now When a date came to MY house the entire stinking family was there to "meet & greet". It was like introducing him to the national guard. un beknownst to me I just got home from a week long hunting trip and walk in the door with a rifle slung over my back, another in my left hand and a shotgun in the right. and 2 pistols and a bowie knife...... I stood dumbfounded as the guy ran out the door |

Parents, children etc that you'd met someone on line, and were planning to go to visit them, what were the reactions you received? Be careful, make sure it's in a very public place. Do you want me to go there and sit a few tables away? I will call you for the "escape option". |

I'm not surprised they didn't think it was a big deal. We always make things larger than they are. Relax! Enjoy! Have a blast!
P.S. Only if he asks you to marry him then you need to go "Whoa, whoa there big fella!" |

But I do appreciate the offer! |

I just feel the need to clairfy that it is NOT about feeling extremely confortable, in love with, and knowing this person. It was ONLY about how to tell brothers who are wanting only good things for me, and concerned about meeting people on the internet. As for myself, there are absolutely no doubts that this man is all I know he is And More!
