Hi Kat, I'm so glad to hear Chuy is doing better and that you had him taken care of. It is certainly the worst feeling in the world to watch suffering of loved ones and feel utterly helpless. Dogs, cats and babies are the worst because you know they can't understand when they're in pain. So you did good, in the end we can only do what we can do.

I am glad I read this after the dog was treated. It was too heartbreaking!!

Your dog can look like a little pirate now.

It's sad that he lost his eye but at least he has his life. And animals are adaptable..I have a three legged cat (missing a hind leg) who can jump up on anything a4 legged cat can; he catches birds and mice..he functions as if he had 4 legs.

Oh Kat that's horrible! These things happen with animals, you have to know it wasn't your fault! Your little dogs are so beautiful & I know you love them.

I would consider finding another vet though, a vet should be reachable for an emergency like that. My vet back in Md got up at 3 am & drove to his office in a bad fog to try to save a choking puppy, another time he came in on a Sunday for my friend's old Lab. He was in congestive heart failure.

Hugs to you & the poor little guy.

holy... ****ing... ****cakes. I hope for a speedy recovery, please, do not blame yourself. You know, someone once told me small dog's eyeballs pop out easily. Now maybe I believe that source. So, see? It is so tragic but not your fault.

His eye didn't pop out..it was either pulled out or bit out. And, you are right....Pikanese and chihuahuas have rounded "out side" eyes. Easier to do damage.

As for his vet; he is wonderful. He had worked all day and there was an on duty vet there, but according to nancy that one wasn't the one I wanted. So, anyway...his regular vet came in this morning on his day off and did Chuys surgery. He must still be in surgery. He has been there since 8:30 this morning. She will call and let me know how he is doing.

Yes, I love my dogs as if they were my kids. I was so unrested last night. I could barely sleep. I was up all night long on and off.
I prayed he would be in good hands and he was. Dr. Link came in himself.
I am getting a bit antsy waiting to hear how he is.

Yes, I try to keep my dogs safe and regular Dr visits. But, truthfully, it is so hard to afford them these days. And forget emergency room visits unless you have a good savings account, which I don't have. I am lucky in that I can pay installments on his surgery. And, I get a 20% discount on all visits and meds. So many aren't so lucky. I am sure most everyone that has a friend like mine are wants to do all they can to help them. It just is so hard for people of meager means.

Thank you all for your concern and you help me more than you know.

I'm glad he is doing better. Those little ****ens chiuahuas
can get into it pretty bad sometimes when they start fighting.
My heart gos out to you dear lady! He will get back to his old self in no time at all. Hugs to you fellow animal lover!

I wish all the states had more proper emergancy care for pets.
In my area there is only phone calls accepted- you have to take your pet out of this city to get help in an emergancey. If you don't have the money (Lots of it) at the time of an emergancey they won't even help your pet here either. This is so sad.
Often animals have to wait till the vets open the next day
to be treated. This no doubt must of cost some pets their lifes.

you did everything perfect

my brothers fiancee was a vetinary nurse, and she would see animals come in who had been sick for a long time, and the owners didnt take there pets to the vets until they were virtually dead and you could see there rib cage etc and as they left it so long they would have to be put to sleep. if they had took there pet earlier some could have been saved.  . people who do that do get prosecuted for animal crutly, and they arnt allowed to have a pet again, and they totally deserve it. explode explode

I have'nt heard anything yet?
I have been searching for a low cost and spay and neuter clinic in my state and city. I get voice mails, but am trying to find a place to have them fixed. I cannot stand for this anymore. No fighting over females. I will have them fixed...all of them.
I have no intentions of selling anymore puppies anyway. My older female acts like she wants to breed but never does, so she doesn't need too. My youngest female already had pups, so she is good. I think she decided that was enough. lol
Now, my males need fixed so that they will docile down some. I hope it works.

Thank you hon. I will post again when I know something. I am worried about his life right now. She assures me he will be fine. But how do they know without xrays? I hope this doesn't ruin his spirit. He's a "bull dog", very brave, and so pretty. Such a loving little fella. Kat:cry:
How is the dog 2day?
