A police spokesman says the intrusion was justified because the officers' initial door knocks went unanswered, and they wanted to make sure nothing was wrong. cya cya what do you expect them to say just cause they say does not make it so they had no reason to be knocking in the first place |

some people really need to get over themselves and put things in proper perspective ouch, I think this comment is uncalled for we are all entitled to express our opinions everyone does not have to agree with it we all are entitled to express our opinions, but things Do need to be put in proper perspective and i still think that some people need to get over themselves as you are entitled but must someone conform to your opinion of proper perspective true some people should get over themselves - as some should think more highly of theirselves THEIRSELVES...??? LAKEVILLE, Minnesota (AP) -- A Lakeville man says he feels violated after two police officers woke him up at 3 a.m. to tell him his door was unlocked. Their surprise visit was part of a public service campaign to remind residents to secure their homes to prevent thefts. Usually, officers just leave notices on doors. But they went further in Troy Molde's case on Thursday. Police entered the house where four children under 7 were having a sleepover, and then went upstairs to Molde's bedroom. The officers told Molde his garage door was open, the TV was on, the keys to his truck were left in the ignition and the door to his house was ajar. A police spokesman says the intrusion was justified because the officers' initial door knocks went unanswered, and they wanted to make sure nothing was wrong. He says the kids inside -- Molde's two sons and two nephews -- were afraid to wake their dad, so the officers went upstairs good thing he wasn t getting his groove on. |

the cops were in the wrong they had no legsl right to enter the garage to see the keys in the ignition they had no reason to go to the door to see if he would answer it they had no reason to enter the residence to see his children nor his sisters or brothers children this behavior is totally uncalled for by the police they have no more right to do these things in this situation than anyone posting in this thread is it illegal to leave your garage door open is it illegal to leave your front door open i do not know about you but i have seen a lot of garage doors left open and i have also seen a lot of front doors left open this does not make it a suspicious situation they illegally entered and if it was me i would press charges as some say on this site "nough said I DO NOT AGREE...AT ALL... I GUESS YOU DON'T LIVE IN THE CITY , WHERE CRIME IS RAMPANT CONSTANTLY ??? MAYBE YOU WOULD APPRECIATE THE COPS MORE , IF YOU DID LIVE IN A HIGH CRIME AREA.... |

I would be VERY thankful for any officer that woke me to tell me garage door open.
I think it would be GREAT public relations for them to do that. Door open also & kids wouldn't go up & wake the owner. Back the officers ALL THE WAY. It is your right to think any way YOU would want this done. But I think it was a GREAT THING. Opinions & azzholes, everyone has one, some just bigger & stinker than others. I qualify in there somewhere. |

who would you back if the guy woke up seen strangers in his bedroom and grabbed his gun and shot one of the officers thus being shot by the other one
situation should notbe put in a position to happen butthe last have of your post is correct 4 sure |

I qualify in there somewhere. were I to be awaken from my bed, in my home at 3am; I think I'd be arrested, for I would have shot them on instinct. There were 4 children under 7yrs of age; of course they would be scared 1 - they should be sleeping 2 - they could have felt intimidated felt as though they did something wrong are not adults, therefore they cannot authorize entrance to a home. article never states whether children were awake? sleeping and were woken up??? just my opinion (yes like noses) we all have one - this one is just little ole mine |

I didn't see the Patriot act mentioned anywhere.
I leave my garage door open. It's my right. I leave my front door open so I don't have to run an air conditioner. The guns are loaded. You want to talk to me call on the phone. |

......if it was me i would press charges as some say on this site "nough said And you would get laughed at and escorted to the nearest door.... and there is no attorney who would back you up, I do not think even the ACLU would support you on this one! Pray tell, what is your problem with the police making sure a residence is safe? You make absolutely no sense at all. Lindyy |
