Yes, we still have about a month before it comes out, but man, this is truly the one movie I have been waiting all summer to see. If the sequel can come anywhere near close to as good as Batman Begins was (best comic book movie ever made, and one of the best films of this decade) then I will be a happy camper. Ledger's last movie. Nolan and Bale together again. Goyer writing the script. I mean, I just feel it is going to be an awesome sequel.

I, personally, cannot wait to see it! All my friends are counting down and I've even got my one girlfriend excited about it.
I know Ledger will be amazing in this movie and all women my age grew up with him as a super-hotty so I'm sure I'm not the only one to wonder how it'll be to see him as a nutter. I like the new direction the Batman flicks are taking. It's much better dark than the older 'campy' sort of movies they were. Bale is great too. I don't care what anyone says. I like him too. |

Bale IS Bruce Wayne. He plays the part so damn well. Caine, as always, is great as Alfred. Oldman is one of the best actors over the last 20 years. Guy is solid in everything he does.
Nolan, IMO, is the best director in Hollywood right now. When he got the job to redo Batman, he went out and got David Goyer because he knew Goyer was a comic book geek and Batman lover. Together they make a great team. When Ledger was first cast to play Joker, I really wasn't sure about him playing the part. But when I saw the first preview, that was all erased. I hate that he is gone. |

You can never go wrong with Michael Caine, he is an amazing actor and always delivers.
There has never been a movie with Gary Oldman in it that I didn't love. He's one of my favourite actors for sure I'm glad to hear someone else agrees with me about Christian Bale. To me, he does Bruce Wayne how I'd always imagined him. |

Bruce Wayne is a guy that does what is right for the people of Gotham, yet he will always struggle with it cause he has his demons. Bale played this nicely. He didn't make Wayne into a "campy" character. Bruce is troubled. He wants vengeance for what happened to his parents. When Justice fails him he seeks his own personal justice.......yet, the good inside of him won't allow him to become one of the type of "monsters" that he despises. I love Rachel Dawes line in Begins when she tells Bruce..."It's not who you are inside that counts. It's what you do that defines you." She says it at the right time in the movie when he is being the playboy billionaire type. Bale's look on face when he realizes that she is right is priceless. He figures out who is he and what he is meant to do. I honestly feel in that moment is when he really became.....BATMAN. |

That's exactly what I thought! He's supposed to be angry and bitter and vengeful even though he's a good person and helps people.
I will say that I'm happy Katie Holmes isn't in the new one. Maggie Gylennhaal (sp?) is way better than her. |

Mrs. Cruise just needs to be a moomy for a bit and in a couple of years she can make a comeback. Maggie G. is a great choice. Loved her in Stranger Than Fiction. |

Someone else with good taste I like the Gyllenhaals. Maggie and Jake are both great. Yes, I did enjoy Donnie Darko Think I'm gonna watch Batman Begins again this weekend |

I LOVE Donnie Darko. I can see why some people have a hard time with it, but to me, it is one of the most creative movies to come out this decade.
Got a Blue Ray player so now I gots to get Batman Begins on blue ray. WOOT! Oh, and Eckhardt as Harvey Dent is a great choice too. Can't wait to see what he does with the character. |

it is going to kick butt...christian bale was the right choice for the character and i full faith in aaron eckhardt's abilities for harvey :)

Sorry to poop on everyone's party, but the Heath Ledger version of Joker seems just wrong...judging from the previews, the character seems too withdrawn, almost depressed...granted, I've only seen the preview, but The Joker was the main feature of the preview throughout.

Nah Blaze, he's supposed to be withdrawn and sinister like to tease you. Go see it and tell me what you think
Oh yea, Eckhart is gonna be great as Kent. I love the movie poster they've got out now. Look so damn cool. |

i don't mean to burst anyone's bubble, but this is my opinion. i don't think the batman franchise is in the right hands. this is orginally a comic book, it should look somewhat like a comic book. personally i prefer burtons adaptation. i liked his strange and kooky perspective of gotham and its characters. just imagine burton creating the scarecrow! i was truely disappointed with the scarecrow from Begins! i was hoping to see a wicked and lanky spook. someone or something that would just scare the ****s out of children!
the creator of sin city, frank miller, did a comic book series of the dark knight. as of now, i think he may be the best choice to write and direct a new batman movie. his look on the city is amazing, it shows the true grits of its darkside. and the character movements are phenomenal! they move with a great swag and exaggeration. thats how batman should move! batman is supposed to be very acrobatic because he relies on his human strength and natural abilities. in the recent films, he's been relying too much on technology, which takes away the full potential that batman has. i have nothing against nolan's work. his film momento was a good film, and probably the only film known to the mainstream. i wonder how he was even considered to direct a batman movie. well, thats my two pennies... care to discuss? |

Interesting opinion cool_guy, and hey, I can appreciate it. I realize that not everyone will like (or did like) what Nolan did with Batman. But, as I stated in an post, Nolan specifically went out and got Goyer. Nolan was not all that well informed with the Batman comics, and he wanted to do it justice. So, he and Goyer spent alot of time together before the movie even began shooting. Nolan knew what had happened during the franchises initial run. Under Burton, the films did very good box office, and while not accurate to the BATMAN comics, they were good films. Schumacher came in cause (at the time) he was a very hot and in demand director. He did away with the gothic tone that Burton had done, went with a more cartoonish look and even had the campy dialogue. Batman Forever wasn't bad, but you could tell that the franchise was in jeopardy. Batman and Robin all but killed the franchise, and Schumacher's directing career hasn't been all that great since.
Now, enter Nolan, who had done Memento and Insomnia, and was not considered an "action movie" director. But what he was and is great at is set designs, vision and more importantly, character development. Nolan had to convince WB that Bale could be Bruce Wayne. Most people had doubts about him doing it simply because he wasn't a big name or a box office draw. You add Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Liam Neeson, Morgan Freeman, Cilian Murphy, and you see that Nolan was going to make sure that this film would be well acted.....and it was. Goyer felt that BATMAN had to get back to the gritty side, and be more gothic and dark than anything. Nolan is also great at this too. His films have a darker tone to them. Like you cool-guy, most people liked what Burton did with BATMAN......even some comic book geeks liked his take on it. But what they love about Nolan and Goyer is that both men tru;y presented Batman and Bruce Wayne the way he was always meant to be presented. Wayne is a troubled man, even while he does protect and serve the people of Gotham. Bale played this so masterfully. You see the transformation from a young vengeful and out of control man to a young man who learns how to use that pain for good. I loved that we see how Bruce learned the martial arts and that we see him as a flawed man. Basically, he is trying to find out who he is, all the while looking to help the city that he loves (and that his father loves). I will give you that I wish Scarecrow would have been further developed in Begins, but rumor has it that we have not seen the last of him. So my hopes are that maybe in the third installment they will bring him back (and I hope Murphy will do it). However, if you watch Begins, then you will see that Scarecrow really isn't a main focus. He serves Al Ghoul, so in a way he is more like a middle man. Had the story just shifted to Scarecrow then I think the movie would have lost alot. I always looked at Begins as a intrroduction to Dr. Crane and how (and why) he started to use Scarecrow. I believe Dent will be used like this too in The Dark Knight (since most of the emphasis will be put on Batman and Joker). I believe the franchise is in the right hands. My only worry is that Nolan will only direct Begins and Dark Knight and won't be back for future installments. He says that he is loving doing the franchise and was really proud of Begins, so I am hopeful he will do more. But, should he choose not to, then whomever takes the reigns better take notes from him. Cause, IMO, he made the world believe in BATMAN again. |
