sounds like your doctor gave you the valium so that you wouldn't feel the full effect of the withdrawel from the lorazapam. You now have to get off the valium and there is nothing to replace it with. The withdrawal effects from valium are not as severe as the withdrawel from lorazapam. weather you realize it or not your doctor is trying to put you through the least amount of pain possible. You do not want to be on either drug for any length of time both are very addictive.

I understand what you are saying. For some people with anxiety disorders (not substance abuse) benzodiazepines help immensely with the anxiety and to control panic and help people live productive lives.

I understand this. I work at a substance abuse treatment center and we use benzo's to help clients control panic/anxiety.

Debbie talk to your doctor he should know you and your condition better than any of us. I'm sure he can do something to help with your anxiety. Best wishes flowerforyou

my doctor weaned me of lorazepam and replaced it with valium while weaning me of the lorazepam. i saw him today and he said hes going to wean me off the valium, and im like WTF,why did you replace the lorezapm with valium, if ive got to be weaned off the valium as well. so this time im going to be weaned off the valium, and ill have nothing to replace it. why the hell did he give me diazapam in the first place, now its going to be harder as ive got nothing to replace it with.

does anyone know of any benzos you can have long term??

i dont think ill cope without them

If you are on the valium for an anxiety disorder, I don't think he can take you off of it. You might want to discuss this with him. From my understanding, some people with certain disorders do benefit from benzodiazepines.flowerforyou
If he won't listen to you it might be time for another doctor.

i suffer with bad anxiety and panic attacks, i have actually collapsed a few times having panic attacks. the benzos only help me, since ive been on the valium ive had no panic attacks, and my anxiety is much better. how can they take me off a med thats made me life so much better

Can you talk to him about this?

yes i am, my doctor and his team are going to have a meeting about my meds with me too , they better not stop my sleep meds else ill go mad, because without the sleep meds i would never sleep, due to the pain

I don't know much about sleep meds or pain meds. I did see my brother go through an unnecessary withdrawal from xanax only for them to put him back on it.

thats bad because withdrawals are bad. i cant sleep at night without my sleep meds, if i had no sleep meds i wouldnt sleep at all with the pain, so they cant take me off that, if they try to ill go mad explode explode

Sorry I don't benzo's are highly addictive we treat people who are addicted to them here. That's probably why your doctor wants to take you off of them. He doesn't want to see you addicted to them.

do your best to be patient with them and explain your situation calmly to them. Be open to their suggestions as to what meds they can give you in replace of them. Like I said I'm sure they can find something that will help you. good luck.flowerforyou

Debby,
Klonopin is used in the UK, as it works for a serious health proble. That too is addictive. It may not be used for anxiety?? There are Benzos site on the net. You can carefully and slowly self wean. Wish you the best!flowerforyou Do not come off to fast, as I have a friend who stopped too quickly and has a grand mal seizure, only one, but still.
