the day had become just another forgotten war
with my soldiering ending in the dim subway light i could care less where the train would take me but somehow i always ended up home so many familiar faces around me all of them i would never know with these neighboring worlds spinning just outside my reach my thoughts drift across the tracks across the universes across to a mirror of hopeless wars hopeless battles that lie in another direction with different enemies than my own my thoughts fall upon the shores of a woman she is so ordinary she is so plain i watch her sort out her past with her future and briefly i am in love too many nights like this have made her more aware she sees me i am easily captured where is she going to a man who does not know she is god to a man who does not long to feel her smile upon him only taking his pleasure in her pain i need her she must know that i need her the trains of our destinies move between us in a rush of warm air i will never be with her again until tomorrow |
