Bob Dylan is a musical GOD, i saw him in concert last october it was awesome Ahhh, you got to see him when Elvis Costello was opening with the accoustic set. EC is great! Unfortunately, Bob came to NY in the fist part of his tour in June when Jimmy Vaughn was opening. |

Yea Axl Rose is crazy but he had talent. Cobain...I'm gonna get burned at the stake for this but I hated the guy. Dave Grohl is the only thing outta that band I liked. As for filler on albums now, I agree. It's too much crap. Writers now, I'm liking Gavin DeGraw, Chris Martin (Coldplay) and Alex Turner (Arctic Monkeys). Oh and Feist. She's weird and Canadian but her lyrics are good. |

I'm a picky bastard when it comes to my music. |

*Phew* I was worried for a minute that I would get banned from music posts
|

Nah, you're on target. If they ban you then I will boycott as a personal protest.
I think Nirvana are the second most overhyped and overrated band I can ever recall. |

Aww thanks!
Who is the first? |

Kiss

OBJECTION SIR!
STP, Green Day and all those bands took their lead from Nirvana. Granted, I'm more of an AC/DC, Van Halen, Zeppelin, Kiss guy but Nirvana's gotta' get some kudos for being original. Am I banned??? |

OBJECTION AGAIN SIR!!!!
Kiss changed the whole landscape for live performances. How can you be a Long Island guy and not like Kiss? Now am I banned? |
|
|
|
Yea they were original and then a lot of other people did it after them...But better. (Pearl Jame? STP?)
Van Halen's better anyhow. No bannings!!! |
|

Hey I'm a Canadian girl and I loved KISS when I was a kid. Went out for Halloween as Peter Criss once with 3 of my guy friends
|

BTW, if you want some good live music, check out Cheap Trick when they roll into town. Now THERE'S an underrated band.

OBJECTION AGAIN SIR!!!! Kiss changed the whole landscape for live performances. How can you be a Long Island guy and not like Kiss? Now am I banned? We can agree to disagree. As far as the whole musical theater thing I'd say that Alice Cooper really changed the landscape. I understand the attraction of Kiss as a live band. However, they cannot play, sing, or write decent songs. How can I put this gently.... Hmmmmmm, got it... They sound like CRAP to my ears. |

The sad thing is this: Ace Frehley was the only REAL musician in the band. They booted him for too much partying, which was a mistake. Eddie Van Halen was GOING to take his spot but Gene Simmons wanted to make money on Van Halen in his own gig. Give the guy credit, he's a business man alright. He got 'em signed and look now. |

You're right about Ace.
One of my buddies was named after him middle name is Ace. I couldn't believe it at first. |

Yep, Gene Simmons is a great businessman. No arguments from me. But after 35+ years in the music biz do you think maybe he could learn how to play the bass??

You're right about Ace. One of my buddies was named after him middle name is Ace. I couldn't believe it at first. He was the first dude to play his riffs on the neck. Eddie came along and perfected the craft. Check out his solos on "Shock Me." Some of them are pure genius. And I doubt his blood alcohol ever got below .20. (that rhymnes - YAY me) |
