In Loving Memory...
******************** Dear Marvin, Today is your birthday my love. I miss us sharing our birthdays next to each other. I miss you! I can't believe it has been 15 years since you went home with God. Where has time gone? Seems like yesterday you were here- laughing with me. Your two daughters have four grand babies between them now. You would of been a wonderful grandpa. My four kids miss you- as fathers day approaches. You were a wonderful dad- the only dad they knew. The brady bunch misses you. lol. You would of been 55 years old today. I turned 49 yesterday. Not gray haired yet! lol. How I miss your hugs and smiles. Your booming laughter. The little notes hiden around the house saying "I love You" . You holding me in your strong arms. I know your watching me somehow. I felt you today-as if you were right here. Looking over my shoulder as I typed. I wanted to reach out for you... yet I can't. A tear ran down my face as the memories flooded my mind today. You were a great man. Someone who knew how to treat people. A giant teddybear in real life. Happy Birhtday Marvin! See you again someday. Happy Birthday Marvin!
Susan - that was so beautiful - your love for him shows so much as well as the fact that you miss him. If I may have the honor of sharing something with you - My eldest daughter passed away last January. As we were going through the numb, automated process of the arrangements I was looking at the backs for the prayer cards for the wake. I was speaking to my daughter in my head, asking for her guidance because I knew I just couldn't - it hurt too much, when this literally POPPED out at me. It suited Kristen to a tee, and brought comfort to all who read it. It is an Indian Prayer and I hope it touches you as it did us: Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there. I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glint on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain. When you wake in the morning hush, I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circling light. I am the soft starlight at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there. I did not die. God bless you and keep you each and every day ![]() |
