Topic: Who would believe.... | |
---|---|
I was talking to a friend today about online dating and I asked her what she would say if she came across a profile that seemed "too good to be true". She said if she read that on anybody's profile she would quickly jump to the next profile because either it was a bold faced lie or there was something seriously wrong with that person that had yet to be revealed. That made me take pause to ponder the dilemma we all face when writing our profiles. We all want to put our best foot forward, but at the same time don't want to sound conceited, crazy or shallow. So the questions I put to all of you is this. Do you disbelieve most of what you read in profiles that seem too perfect? Do you shy away from those people or do you try to get to know them to see how much of it is true?

I am drawn more to the unique, down to earth and "simply" sincere profiles anyway. I am turned off by the ones that brag about how much they have, how great they are, and all the "exotic" places they go and things they do. Like I say in my profile, realism and individualism-just be yourself.

i never put my best foot forward in my profile to inpress anyone , i just tell what im all about and leave it at that Total honesty, I love it. What about those who try to mislead... I truly dislike those people for what they are trying to do? |

i never put my best foot forward in my profile to inpress anyone , i just tell what im all about and leave it at that Thats how i am As far as trying to get to know somone and seeing if there as real as what the profile says, yeah i do, but it's more watching them on the forum at times for me that give some what of an idea of what they might really be like. No one will ever really know if somone is of what they say is on there profile, it's just taking that time and seeing what happens and go from there. |

Occasionally, true genuineness and sincerity jumps right off a profile's page-
Other times, profiles can be less forthright- And still other times, they are just down right deceivingly written! Some people's words just emminate who they are and other's, try to use words to 'create' themselves... |

Alot of women read my profile and are not into what im into or not into my age , but i figure OH WELL

There are too many reasons why awesome ppl may have trouble meeting ppl to date...I don't assume they are lying, but then again, I'm not really fond of ppl stuck on themselves. If it's too "look at me" I think I'd pass.

Most are skeptical no matter what they say on their profile anyway. If someone seems bitter or egotistical I keep looking.
