hi there , i have a problem , i already finish studying hisghschool now i have to pick a carrer , what i really like is painting and drawing its my passion but the thing is that carrer dont give me to much money , everyone told me to study grafic design because is the closest carrer that seems famyliar with the carrer of art, but my mom tell me to study something i really like , she told me that i already had a bad times in life and its time for me to study something that makes me happy everyday , am depresive most of all the time and am taking medication , thats way she tell me to study something that helps me to star a new day

If art makes you happy, go for it. If something else makes you happier, then go for that. But it is your life and your decision...after all YOU are going to be the one to have to go to the job everyday...not me, not your friends, not your mom...you.

I would look into teaching English. Your grammar is superb

Well, ARE you interested in graphic design? Have you checked into it at all to see if it's something you might like? You can make a nice living at that I would imagine.


Edited to add, it IS important to do something daily that makes you happy, not just a job.

If I were u Id go for it whatever i like.hey my career is not a big money making iam a preschool teacher.......but I love it Iam also baker and florist.......I love all of it.........so I say follow your heart hey i rather work for less but happy then more and stressed

you could always sign to college as "undecided" and take many courses in intros to hundreds of areas... it will give you ideas to what you would like to do... also going through college catalogs can help you as well...

You have lots of opportunities available to you now, and as Chris said, do what your heart tells you.

If you feel that being an artist wouldn't pay enough to support you right now, then postpone it for just a bit.

Maybe you can go to college and major in Graphic Design or Architect, and then minor in Art.

But never ever give up your dreams.

Back on topic-

You could also go study architecture or drafting, too. That way, not only are you doing something artistic, but it's also firmly rooted in industry. That means there'll be work to be had, which won't be the case if you went in simply as an artist.

I always wanted to make it in England as a session musician I am a physicist and only because I couldn't make a living with music . Being a physicist allow me to publish and sell my music and develop a dance carrier all based on my own disposable income. You might have to do something you don't like to be able to finance to do the things you like
