I am all for strong, opinionated women who stand by what they say
At times it's not what is said but how it is said (better yet how it is interpreted). The sad thing is that once something is said, it is open to interpretation and there are soooo many people on the defensive that naturally would take an opinion that doesnt match their own to be taken as aggressive or claim that the person is mad. Does not reflect the person speaking but rather the person interpretating the statement. Speak up ladies and be heard

some people here seem to have gotten the wrong idea about my post...I am not asking for advice on how to change, nor do I feel badly about who I am..on the contrary..I am merely suggesting that when a woman states her opinion she is often labeled as angry... I find it distressing that anyone would suggest I try to "back down, choose my words more carefully, learn when not to speak....". While I expect it from men, its even more sad when it comes from women.... These are the things we tell our daughters everyday and effectively steal their voices from them before they ever get a chance to speak for themselves..... Absolutely... I teach my daughter to question authority, even mine...

I agree with you. I think Symbelmyne rocks. And naturally, a certain type of insecure male is going to get his knickers in a twist when dealing with this type of female. But real men..they love women like us. |

Someone ALWAYS is a dominant in the relationship; sometimes you can dominate the same amount of different things in a relationship but the scale always tips one way or the other. A "strong" woman is looking for a somewhat submissive man otherwise it doesn't work... Several breakup because of arguing. Arguing that stems from one person wanting to control the other... You're right it isn't rocket science. It goes to the Alpha experiments, Strong doesn't have to mean arguementitive. I can't be with a weak man, cuz I'm not a weak woman, it's called give and take, and it takes a strong person to do that. It takes a weak person to do all the taking... In 10 years maybe you'll understand interpersonal relationships a bit better?? I'm hoping so. |

Compared to what my generation is now; yes I am, you are a little out of touch with my generation so I would say you really don't know what it is like to be a maverick. Plus you are judging it from your own standards...
