Topic: Anyone have a gym at home? | |

I'm thinking of getting a Bowflex. Not sure though every ad I read for one used says, "Used it only a few times. It's sat for years."

every free weight available, treadmill, elipt, etc. It is only useless if you look at it that way

Used to...free weights and a bench, stepper and treadmill. I still prefer working out at home, but it's not an option now.

do yourself a favor and save your $ -just lift free weights Yeah but I have this fear of free weights when not being spotted. I also want to work out my entire body. I could join a gym but the price for the machine used is very attractive. I just wonder if I will use it or not. |

I have an olympic bench that inclines, has an attachment to do quads and curls and a spot on the back that you can use to rack/unrack for squatting ... it also inclines to do incline bench or straight up and down for shoulders.... I also have a cheap decline bench for ab work.... the only one I'm currently using is the decline because I have a membership at the gym... the other stuff is sitting in the spare room collecting dust but I'm sure I'll use it again someday.
edit: I also have a Total Gym, forgot about that. Also collecting dust but it is kinda neat. |

a good friend of mine has the bowflex and it works for him. Main things is can you keep at a routine if you have it at home. Some people need a gym to be able to stick with it.

I am just worried there is something wrong with the Bowflex. I have the motivation to work out. I just didn't know if the system was hard to use or not. |

or get a power rack (if you have the room) Yeah I have the room. The one that I am looking at retails for 2500 with all the attachments it will take up the entire extra BR but I can get it for $1k. I was thinking if it isn't for me then I can sell it to someone else for $1k....(provided I can find a buyer). Edit: the main benefit is working out when I want. I have a busy schedule at time and don't want to miss a workout because of it. |

there is always a learning curve to any new routine. IF you got the budget the room and you think it fits your lifestyle doooooo it. What you got to lose?
