What do you do after you let yourself down?
How long does it take to forgive yourself(if ever)?
Do you think less of yourself?

It takes awhile to forgive myself, but I do.
Just try to learn from each and everything and move on.

You try to re-examine the issue and learn from it.

There is no timeline at all...we are all different, but I have found that self forgiveness may be the hardest of all.

Never think less of yourself - as long as you learned something valuable from the experience.

When you think you let yourself down, change your way of thinking. Everyone makes mistakes and the good thing is we can learn from them. Reflect on how you think you let yourself down and fix the problem. Good Luck.drinker

I use the principle of "mitigated risk" to determine if I've actually let myself down in some way-

I look into what factors were present in my "failure". If there was something external (and beyond my control) that made me drop the ball, then I couldn't have actually messed up, right?

As long as you tried your best at what you were doing, you didn't let yourself down. That only happens if you did nothing at all.

I agree with the majority, if you learn from your mistakes you can't beat yourself up. We are only human.

I actually let myself off the hook pretty easily when I screw up...I know that I tried, meant well, thought I knew what I was doing, whatever the case, and just made a mistake...it happens.

If I ever did bad/harm intentionally...that would be another matter and I would live with it forever. frown

“There is no person so severely punished, as those who subject themselves to the whip of their own remorse.” ~Seneca

I'm afraid I give others way more slack then I give myself ... guilt over your parenting (isn't everything the Mom's fault?! embarassed) seems to be the worst, imo!
