i don't know how to promote it Well you could always try to use unique keywords and contact google about being able to get picked up in a search, same goes for yahoo, and several other search engines. |

You can try traffic exchanges. They work for some sites, but not for all. It doesn't hurt to try them, you'll get traffic from them at the very least.
Also, try joining similar forums, and add a link in the sig. and be active in the forums. You can try link exchanging as well. Thos are just a few ways to start out. |

That's not how it worked with my site, we (admins) had to put a request through yahoo to get our site to pick up on a search. Maybe they hated my hair... |

That's not how it worked with my site, we (admins) had to put a request through yahoo to get our site to pick up on a search. Maybe they hated my hair... That's interesting... Sometimes the bots can have a hard time crawling the sites, maybe that's why. |

It picked up some references to the site (when we linked to it in another forum or blog), but it wouldn't directly pick up the site until we requested it...google did alright, but yahoo didn't do it automatically. |

Depending on the forums you have, you can install SEO add-ons to help the search engines index your site.
Also some scripts, like PHPBB can setup special accounts for search engine bots to help them index the site better. |
