I cant see Obama picking Hillary as a running mate.

He would instantly lose the support of most Independents.
Not to mention Hillary and Bill would seek the limelight and all credit for anything he does like a moth seeks a light source.

I think he will chose Edwards first, but the more I think about it I think Edwards will decline.
This will leave in my opinion his next best choice, Richardson!
Whose foreign affairs experience and success at negotiating deals with difficult nations on tough issues is unparalleled. He would complement both Obamas inexperience and what Obama hopes to achieve as president.

If he does though Obama would be smart to immediately announce Richardson as Secretary of State. This would counter all arguments by McCain and the Rep. about his lack of Foreign policy experience in the run towards the Presidency.

It's hard to say what will happen.

I do know that Bill Clinton would support having Hillary as VP, he's been hinting at it.

He thinks this will position her to win the Presidency in 2016.

I agree with you that Richardson would be a good choice for him as Secretary of State.

However, I don't see Independents alone deciding this election.

There are Democrats who would never vote for Obama, some of those who support Hillary, and vice versa.

Then there are the third party candidates.

Wouldn't it be a kick in the pants to the electoral process if Ron Paul or Ralph Nader somehow won the Presidency by default because the Democrat and Republican cancelled out each other's votes!

I disagree, the independent voter will be a determining factor in this election. Just as it has been in every election.

There is an unprecedented number of new young voters registering to vote this time out. I was reading a piece, and talking to the young men and women I come across regularly at school, I found the same thing. The young new registered voters have no interest in a third party candidate. The piece I was reading was talking on a National level, while the young people I talk to are limited to this particular area in this state.

Most here in WNC have registered independent, and most I have talked to like Obama and have no interest in the Republican party or the Clinton's. Traditionally, more times than not, NC goes to the Republican candidate. I think that may change this year. If and I mean if, Obama becomes the Democratic candidate.

Our State, according to voter registration records is evenly divided between independent, democratic, and republicans. The overwhelming victory that Obama enjoyed in the primaries, (IMO) can be attributed to a split in the democratic party and an overwhelming independent vote. Clinton recieved almost none of the independent vote.
If somehow Clinton wins outright (very unlikely, dont you think) or is even attached to Obama's ticket (as some have suggested), then I am afraid the independent vote will almost all go Republican or stay at home.
I know mine will go Republican if she is on the ticket...

hillary is the worst loser of them all..... she stands up for crap and is pused around not strong... but very weak in my eyes just look at her track record.... her husband drops the bomb about cheating on her cause he got caught... so hes hiding it.. mind you.. and she accepts the bomb.... hummm and goes with the idea of its ok to not let anyone know... that what it told me... so when us is having problems she will ignore the issue and not tell the citizens.... whatever.... then she makes up a fantasy lie about her trip... that bombs were going off etc.... and wth ? she takes her kid? hummmm...... yes vote for hillary she is a sure WINNER!
